Flex shaft

Hello, I just purchased an older Enforcer boat with a Zenoah engine. The flex driveshaft was out to be greased when I bought it. I have tried to figure out how to get the shaft installed correctly. It slides into the motor and fits into place but there is only one brass nut that attaches to the motor. The nut is on the through hull tube and has a compression fitting. The nut then tightens on motor. The driveshaft pulls out of the rear of the boat. What holds the shaft from being lost to the bottom of the lake? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Some pictures of the tube to motor attachment and ones of the strut from the side view would maybe help.Is the end of the cable that goes into the motor square or round ?

The cable end is square.

Does your engine have a black part like the one pictured ? It has a compression fitting on the end that holds the tube with the cable in it in place to the engine. This is one of the early Enforcer Homelites and the Enforcer Hybrid used this system, called the three point mounting system. I never seen a Zenoah with these on. Your engine may be a Hybrid. I guess you can't post pics yet so I'll send you a private message with my email address to send pics to and I can post them for you.Send pics of the engine, the part with the nut and the end of the engine, also the side views of the hardware.

Yes, thank you for the picture. My motor looks just like the one in the picture. It has the same copper nut. I have installed the flex shaft and tightened the nut on the motor but the shaft still pulls out. Sorry, I am not familiar with this configuration.

Here's the pics you sent me. Your engine is a Homelite, either a 25cc or 30cc.Probably a 30cc like mine. One way to tell is to unhook the exhaust manifold from the engine and see if there is a bridge across the opening. If there is it's a 25cc,if not it's a 30cc engine, unless the modifier cut the bridge out and then you would have to measure the diameter of the piston.
There's nothing inside the black shroud to hold the flexshaft to the engine as this is a square drive setup. On a square drive setup the squared end of the shaft just floats in the engine and as the shaft flexes it moves inside. The cable is usually held in at the strut by a ferrule which is soldered to the flexshaft,so the shaft has no way to fall out,but on your stinger drive there's nothing to hold it and wouls be held in at the engine if this was a Zenoah engine using a round cable.Your options are to change your transom hardware to one that uses a ferrule or you can get a stinger that uses a squared cable at that end. Some companys make them.I'd contact Enforcer R/C Boats and ask their advice on a stinger that uses a square https://enforcerrcboats.com/index.php?route=common/home You can call them or use the contact form. Here's a pic of a strut system that uses a ferrule before the strut blade, then washers ,then the blade, more washers and then the drive dog.

Posting more pics from an email for Kentenforcer. Can anyone give him advice on his problem ?

The only thing I can find that may be letting the shaft slide out is this groove that looks like a key may fit here and then tighten the bolt?
