V24 Make Over
 

Hey there fellas,

Not ssure if anyone is interested but i just completed my Aquacraft V24 overhaul . Now it sports a new Zenoah 26cc , Speedmaster stinger , Speedmaster rudder , 2" band pipe and home made extended trim tabs (that may or may not work) . I painted it myself and had a friend make the decals . I have a few pics .... With more to come ... And the maiden run on video .

Looks good! I am a big fan of black boats. Harder to see, but da%n that boat looks great.

nice job pistola, iv had my eye on on of those boats also (the one from the auction site). i love the look but the quality of the boat looks to be substandard. howz the quality of this hull? i own two rio 51s and the hulls and hardware are awesome. thanks for sharing your project with us

The hull is crap ! I had it sitting around (got it a while ago for $100) . I figured i could throw this hardware in it and if it works great ! If it doesn't ....... Well i could take the motor and hardware out and put it in omething more deserving . Having said that ...... I've spent a lot of time on this and kinda hope it works . I blueprinted the bottom to the best of my ability (It was wavey to the naked eye !) , painted it and got the vinyl decals made ...... If all else fails i have a brand new bare hull from Aeromarine .</p>

I have a newby question on the V24.....I'm trying to start the engine and don't know which position to have the kill switch in to start

The hull is great the boat is great and it definitely sits good on the water. Even when it is just anchored it looks fast and is an attention grabber.. The only problem I had with it was the original engine and securing the canopy which I lost twice. I had a Zen PUM 260 after the original engine and never looked back.

01Viper27 . What kind of speeds are you getting ? What about handling ? .... My maiden Voyage is tomorrow .... Looking for a heads up ... LOL

Witht the stock engine it was only maybe about 32 - 34 MPH but with the Zen 260 PUM with stock equiment I was getting about 42 - 43 MPH. Its a straight away ride boat and offers a great ride but it is not your tight turning boat. You have a 50/50 chance of flipping over at high speed turns. Put some foam on the canopy before you lose it.

Wow! That IS a nice looking boat!
I've had my eye on the V24 for a while and have read all the negative posts on the overall quality of the stock boat. Generally speaking I'm the type that is never satisfied with "out of the box" products anyway, I can't think of a single RC that I've purchased and didn't modify something on it. This boat design has that "something different" look about it.

Just curious why it has been designed with a surface drive instead of an outdrive like the full scale boat?
I've searched around to see if anyone has tried an outdrive on this hull but came up with nothing.... Any thoughts?

reason is outdrives cost $ 600.00 and the hull isnot a real performance hull it was designed to be a sport boat and didn t even do that realy well although it would look cool to see one done with one to look scale

Scale is what I'm basically going for in the project. Usually I start with a hull, then I fit the hardware to it. This time I picked up the hardware and I'm looking for a suitable hull.
As outdrives go I think this one will be as scale as it gets:D

Well ........ The maiden voyage ended with mixed feelings .......... Like i was told ... And suspected ..... It really doesn't like to turn ! Even with the motor sitting lower it seems very top heavy . But it does seem to go in a straight line quite well .... I was just giving it a few short bursts here and there as the motor is brand new . It was a bit of a pig to get up on plane .... But once up it stayed on quite easily even as i made some very slow passes to make sure there was water flow . Thank god for Auto Bailers !!! The hole in the transom where the old pipe exited takes on water big time ! And this is what ended my day ! The boat cut out and by the time i got to it ........ It was half submerged .......... Aquacrafts "awesome" radio box seemed to have sucked some water in and the reciever took a bath . Nothing but glitching after that ! Off to the LHS to buy that 2.4 system i've been putting off buying i guess ... lol :)
