Nice little boat! I don't think the Sport .12 class ever caught on. Too bad... .12 hydro is coming back though, thanks to the JAE kits.

Hey Craig,
Yea the date on those pics were Feb 07,
Thought it would be a cool boat to have if someone wanted to try out RC,
But in something not as expensive as a tunnel.
Still tossing round the idea ,
Gene

But as you said the JAE kits are a quick and easy way too.......

Yup, .12 motors are cheap and they sip the fuel. Probably cheaper than electric too, but that's always debatable.

Let's build up a .12 tunnel class!

Hate to ruin the conversation but them .12 sized boats are just too small. I'll be spending my building season working on three or four scale hulls, a trio of sport 40 hulls and a second Dumas sport 20 Pak remanufactured kit. That should keep me busy, don't you agree

Comments always welcome Dude,
Yea that sounds like your going to be busy
The FE hydros come in a variety of sizes from 22" 24" up to 30"
If ya wanted to go that route just pick one to suit.

Craig, Yea Man there ya go!
Gene

Lookin for some more pics............

A lot of you have built the JAE 12 G2 in the pic,
Have any built the G3 Superlite? What were the main differences?

I have not built one. The kit uses thinner wood, so not as strong, but lighter. Pretty much for SAW and time trial oval events, or if you are good at not hitting things...

I have all the hardware to build a new 20 Sport Hydro. The one I'm currently racing will be going on year 8 in 2012. It's still running really well. Just won the District 8 20 Sport Hydro Championship with the boat to go along with 4 other D8 20 Sport Hydro Championships with the same boat. If the new boat doesn't run better than the one I've been racing, it's nice to have something to fall back on.

I have a dumas sk daddle too (TINY!) that I built about 15 years ago and never put a motor in. I have enough hardware laying around so im going to sand off the 3lbs of bondo paint and epoxy i thought was a good idea at the time and see if I can get a pull-start, throw in the water, who cares if it flips little boat out of it.

Hey Jerry,
Sounds like ya got a winner there!
Ya planing any changes on the new version, or just a few tweeks ?

Strecker,
Ya I like the old stuff, My first tunnel was tiny by todays standards.
Still fun to see the early models running too,
Gene

Another hull I saw and looked interesting,
Believe it was at OSE..........

I'm going to try to incorporate some of the JAE build techniques into the design. It will have a different look than my current 20 Sport Hydro. Here's my boat with a Miss Vegas cowling.

Gene, you're going to love this! I built one of the Delta Force Vortexes but it has barely seen water. I tossed it together mainly to get my name in the IMPBA record book but so far it's only collected dust in the dungeon. It was also in the hope that the Sport 12 class would take off but I've been there before with the three .12 mono's also downstairs.
Most of these if not all of the shots were taken while it was still a work in progress. Octura hardware on the rear, Octura motor mount and a Grimracer Miss Vegas turn fin. I made the rails out of carbon fiber angle reinforced with extruded carbon fiber to help keep it light. The fuel cell is a piece that Grimmie made before he went to work for AquaCraft.
I can't say in here that it's for sale but shoot me a PM if you'd like and we can talk. It was set up for a Nova Rossi and one of Glenn Quarles' Texan .12 pipes.

As far as winter builds go, I bought back a Falcon 41 gas Cat that I sold to a buddy so I might be rebuilding that as I've got a new RCMK R-254 sitting in the shop also that could make the boat interesting to race. My mind has been wandering towards a gas sport hydro too. The problem is that I've got a ton of nitro boats and accessories to unload to keep the old lady off my case any more than she already is. She doesn't know yet that I bought the Falcon back so you know that something is going to hit the fan when that news breaks. That was the deal when I bought the Blast Cat, to sell something else in return.

I have a few things on he fire.  Building a AJM Rev2 rigger.  Anthony Marquarts spin on a JAE rigger.  Also building 2 wood tunnels, and my redesigned arno birts sport 20.  Still have a little bit of design work to do on that in CAD before it goes off to Kevin to get cut.  Then I want to build an air boat.  Just something to beat around the pond with.

gene, 2 words for my winter builds OUTBOARD RIGGERS!! gonna convert some existing inboards over, & try some of my ideas on prototypes. i really want a competitive ob rigger. i've had my sundowner ob rigger in the mid 60's consistently, but my jae .21 inboard will run 80 effortlessly, so i've got some serious work to do to catch that....................

The only disadvantage to owning a small hull is the wind. If we get a slight chop ,she's done. I bring mine to the pond but some days she sets. Or I wait for the winds to die down. Our club is going to have a .12 class next year. Ya I ran my .12 in the open rigger a few times, yes she got lapped. I held lane 1 for 5 laps, If you cross a wake she flips. I ran the .12 rigger in Ottawa this last season ,they loved the little hull. I blew away a .21 tunnel. She ran strong that day.

Hey Robin,
Sweet! Keep on pluggin, I like the different stuff.
Like what Carl V. said, Sometimes we need to think outside tha box, Thats how we get new things

Agree on tha chop, VS1 packs a lot of air anyhow, Chop it up and dunk!
I got a few things to try on mine, Well see how it goes.

Well, I haven't started building a new Sport 20 Hydro. But, I have begun refinishing the one I've been racing since 2006. I runs so dang nice I'm not sure I can "Build a better mousetrap." Spent the day watching NASCAR, football(How about those Seahawks?), and sanding and spraying rattle can primer on my Sport 20 and VS1.
