AMPS is vintage . and rare to find.
K&B / Nitro is possible .. or go electric ... K&B E-rebuild or [link=http://www.mhz-powerboats.com/mhzpowershop/artikeldet.php?proid=9670&sid=a4f1c570b4a9f4a2d5252e978f26d3fb]MHZ Mercury[/link]
Or go INboard and fake the OUTboard :-)

RE: AMPS Velden Tunnel hull ?????
Oh yes...it's a Veldon. Bob Agnew, whose company was AMPS in England, sold them all over the world
with their very realistic gear driven boot. I think Bob set up a "branch" here in the US that we knew as
International Hobbies. IH even was represented by a full sized hull with IH markings that ran an 8 cylinder
Johnson or Evinrude in a Veldon in the 70's ( if I remember right!). I owned one of AMPS Veldons and still
have the original engine w/ shroud.
As far as mounting an engine, I modified the transom ( because it was angled to accept the AMPS engine)
and experimented with a K & B 7.5 yrs. ago. Under powered but great fun to run because it really looked
like an outboard should, and you had to really "drive" the hull because the engine hook-up also included
power trim. My guess is that the AMPS package never caught on in the US because of the production costs
therefore the $$ needed for the engine, etc. to be available to the Mr. Joe Public. He just wanted a good US
engine ( K & B ) that would allow him to GO FAST AND TURN RIGHT.

RE: AMPS Velden Tunnel hull ?????
thare was a classic race in 1982 Nottingham england between the JPS velden powerboat and the JPS F1 car they were all level going into the final heat in the last run the wind got under the boat and he had to lift off and it was all over ( 2nd picture ), but the boat sure give the F1 car a good run for the money
allways liked the JPS paint job on this type of hull and thanks to my decal man for sorting the sizes and cutting them out

RE: AMPS Velden Tunnel hull ?????
Old Velden hits the water 1st time out small amount of tweeking and adjusting the power trim on 8 cells its fantastic handling and great round corners , its very controllable with no porposing i think the power trim is great you can set the prop angle on the move and see the speed rise awsome!!!!
