Why not go with the Dumas Hawk 7.5 kit? It is much better than the Quickee 40 and not as antiquated.

I thought that I answered this last night but it must not have gotten posted. Try www.rcstore.com , they have plans in there for the outboard tunnel and might have something for the OPS to fit into.

Hopefully you have a lot of experience in running boats. Outrigger hydros aren't the easiest boats to build or set up. After being in boats and other forms of R/Cing for about 30 years, I built my first 'rigger this year. An OPS isn't quite the motor to put in one and the Quickee 40 isn't going to win you any races if that is your plan. Sorry, I'm being honest with you. I have seen Newbies want to build twin engined boats for their first, that is going in way over one's head! I don't know what your experience is so I really can't tell you what to do. I am just assuming that with you asking these questions that you are relatively new.

I'm sort of new to boats.... have a small amount of experience.

Anyway I want to know what hardware to put into a hawk 3.5. Is there a hardware kit I can buy or should I just go to my local guy in the know and get him to sort me out?

Big Ted, call Gary Preusse, he designed the boat so who better would know how to rig one up? Give him a call at 630-279-2451. He carries everything that you'd need for it including an engine if you need that.

Cool thanks for the quick reply!

Does he have a website or email that you know of?

I'm in australia so anyone that sells international would be great!

The other thing... what are some good internet stores that sell internationally?

Cheers
Ted

Ted,

Gary does not have a computer hooked up, I talk to Gary at least once a day, If you need anything or any questions, I will call Gary for you, I have what we call here unlimited call plan in my phone, I can call anywhere in the USA no charge for long distance, service costs me around $20 per month. I live in Colorado, but go to Illinois in the summer to race with Gary. Let me know what you need I will get you answer right away. He will ship to Australia, you can either pay him by MO or pay me with Pay Pal, call Gary he will ship to you. We sold a pipe to a guy in Australia this way, believe it or not it got there in four days from Gary's in Illinois. You can call Gary and ask him if this arrangemnt is OK with him, for your satisfaction. 630-279-2451

Ron, Good advice!!!!

Can't imagine why he wrapped it around a tree!!! Listen to Ron.

Thanks for the compliment Bill. I talk to Gary a LOT myself but not daily. I did call him a little while ago though. I'm expecting for him to call me yet tonight on a motor that he is throwing together for me. I'll have to mention your name when he calls.

Thank you very much Bill,

I will get in contact with you through this board when I get the funds saved up,

If you are talking to him, The prices I was after are the Hawk 3.5, Hardware, and Shipping.

I would take care of engine and electrics here.

Thanks for being so helpful! Not something you come across every day!

Gary called me back late last night and he couldn't talk long so I didn't mention him to you. He is having some issues with his Mother at the moment and that is keeping him busier right now.

Ron,
I talked to Gary before he called you. Him and Bob have been busy with their mom and the doctor trying to get her meds to a proper level. Are you going to get the stuff for Ted? I can get the prices from Gary and post them, or send them to him, I sell them for what Gary charges, this is a hobby, I own a small roofing bussiness at home to make money from. You guys let me know. Glad to help.

Do it if you want to Bill. I did talk to him briefly yesterday afternoon and he was trying to get a shipment out to me and had to get it packed before the Big Brown showed up. Ted might be better off calling Gary himself. He is always giving me tips on stuff every time that I call and could help him out directly with any questions.

I would call gary myself, but being in Australia makes it a bit hard.

Don't bother him at the moment guys. I will get back in contact in a few months when I'm ready to buy something.
Just looking for now.

Thanks for your help
Ted

OK Ted. When you start looking, come on back and I can set you up with a few people from the "Land of Oz" that I know that might save you some hassle.
