The Dagger does look like a better boat pricewise. It's a Gas boat which would be easier all around for you. That's pretty nice, I'd go for it especially if you can get it for the same if not more than a Mean Machine 18.
I just re-read your posting. Are you talking about the hull alone or the complete boat? The hull if new still is a good price at $175.00, I've got more than that into my 7.5 mono hull.

Gas isn't my area of a lot of knowledge but I'll give it a shot. To set one up properly with new parts you'd have to add in a good $600.00, under $300.00 for a Zenoah 260, header/pipe is really expensive, a C-note and up. Good running hardware, somewhere around $150.00, add in a decent radio system with a high-torque servo, motor mounts and miscellaneous parts will drive it up higher.

Thats great!
The MM-18 comes with a radio so you will have a extra. That will be a good start for your next boat! If your new to boats then a RTR would be a good start, rather than doing a full set up. Don't think you can go wrong with the MM-18 either.
Ron your just about right on the money
Would cost him somewhere in that range to set up that boat. With the hull, engine & hardware he would be in the 600-700$ range for starters.

I think I may just get the RTR and then sell the radio and the engine then i could buy the os .21 and engine mount for it. I already have a radio

Well, not exactly. The meanmachine .18 comes with a factory mount but it will not work with a .21. Also the o.s. 21 header has to be modified to fit. I have to cut it and move it down and the weld it back up.[&o]
