Default Kyosho Blue Streak GP 800 Performance Increase?

Hi All,

I'm quite new to model boating, especially nitro model boating. I have a Kyosho Bluestreak GP800 nitro, which i believe is the older model with the 0.15 pull start engine. Everything standard i believe, plastic prop, normal muffler, 16% nitro fuel etc etc.
I'm looking to increase its performance, can anyone suggest what would be worthwhile mods and where to buy them from?

Thanks

Matt

I have the same model...

Bought it with the reverse mounted geared stock .15

Long ago I removed the .15 and replaced it with an OS .21 ... direct mounted (no gear reduction).

I still have it and it just goes and goes and goes!

Nice one, thats one thing to consider when i get a bit more advanced.
Having looked at your pictures i believe i may not have the 0.15 and i may have the GS16 one, my boat has no gear reduction, has a wing on the top of the shell and looks like this-

What do you think? My engine has a blue cylinder head, side exit exhaust, rotary carb.

Thanks

Matt

My mistake.... [X(]

Mine is the Kyosho jet stream 800... discontinued a long time ago.

Same size hull though... [sm=rolleyes.gif]
It came stock with a .15 mounted reversed and reduction was achieved with 2 plastic gears.

The engine mount I used for the current setup was from Graupner's arrow
I'll snap pics of my current set up (engine) and post them.

Here are pics of the Graupner engine mount & location.

Anyone done any decent mods on the standard .15/.16 engine setup?

Thanks

Matt

Try removing the shims under the cylinder head...you'll gain more compression = more power
Try 1 shim at a time.
