Default Thunder Tiger 15 Mono

Hi,

I am building a 15 sized mono running a Thunder Tiger 15 Pro and want to know if anyone has done anything similar. This engine puts out about .7 horsepower at about 30,000 rpm with a Macs header and tuned pipe on 30% nitro.

I am planning on using an X430 or X432 prop and a .098 cable with a .125 inch shaft.
Should I be using an .130 cable??

Any recommendations or experiences with this kind of setup would be appreciated.

I am modifying an Electro Vee which is 27 inches in length.

Thanks.

Glowfast.

Both the prop and cable will be too small, I know from experience. On one of my .12 monos, I tried it at first with the Warehouse Hobbies SPD-E setup and twisted the .098" cable like a pretzel. Go with the 1/8" (.130") cable. That motor ought to turn an Octura X-435 with no sweat. You might find that you might have to switch over to a 3/16" drive so that you can turn a larger prop. My monos will crank over an X-437.

Thanks Ron.

Sounds like great advice. I have a 0.130 cable with a 0.125 shaft. Better do it right the first time

Just need to purchase some larger props like the X432, X435, Y535, X632 Octura props.

I'll let everyone know how it works out.

Thanks again

Glowfast.

Ron,

You say your mono will turn over an X437 prop.

Which engine are you using and what kind of mono do you have? Any idea what speed you are reaching?

Thanks a million.

I've got two .21 powered monos, one a Wild Thing .12 and the other was one that was converted from an electric boat. One has a Trinity/Picco in it and the other has a new O.S. that hasn't been fired yet. The T/P was radared at 33 MPH before it was dialed in. I had that motor in the WT .12 and had it going much faster just before the crank broke. I found another T/P so it's back together. That's now back in my "Scratch" boat with the O.S. now in the WT .12 . The boats aren't still done with yet. Andy Brown is working on some tuned pipes for the small motors that should be better than any others on the market right now and will be muffled to make them IMPBA "A" class legal. They should be available hopefully in the next month or so. I've already told him that I want some as soon as they come out. Mike at www.grimracer.com built my WT .12 and is one coming out with an epoxy-glas version called the WT 26.
