you guys (and girls) are legends on the quick replies. thanks.

How in the heck do you get to that low speed needle? the manifold is right on top of it.

My manual for the dynamite suggests 3 1/2?

It's on the header side of the motor it's on the linkage.there a regular head screw on the side of it. Turn the high speed screw first before the low speed screw.[8D]

You must have a different carb, go with what the manual says.

No what? I was telling him to follow the manual suggestion for the high speed needle setting.

I AM CONVINCED THAT THIS DYNAMITE .15 IS AN ABSOLUTE PEICE OF JUNK.

I went to the shop to buy a bunch more stuff today to hopefully keep me happy out at the lake (i.e. plugs, after-run oil, grease, another 7.2v for the starter). i went to start the thing, and i couldn't even get it to turn. the piston is caught right in the middle of the stroke. I thought it was hydro locked so I did the normal procedure. I got it to turn while it was upside down (strong knocking noise, I then righted it, replaced the plug, and tryed to start it. It would not turn for the life of me. I feel like I am abusing the hell out of the thing just trying to get it started. I tryed to get it to turn with the plug out and upside down again to no avail... no go. This is starting to make me feel like I should have never tryed to get back into this hobby again, or should have gone electric. I know I should not feel this way though, so I will try to persevere.
Is something seriously wrong in there?

so time for that little $84.00 investment we talked about? I am supposed to go to hobby town to show it to the owner tomorrow. Or would it be best to try to warranty it through horizon? can I use my tiger drive system on the O.S. motor. You are awesome on the quick reply, by the way. do you have the site page you when one of your subscribed threads is replied to or something?

If it is under warranty...I would get it fixed even if you never plan to use the motor again. You could always Ebay it to recoup some of the cost of the .18.

Some one asked if the tiger drive would fit the O.S. .18.... It kinda does. I hve a TD on mine but I had to use a shaft from a Racer's Edge starter kit that they no longer make. The starter kit is for the OS engine if you can find it but that kit has some plastic gears that I didnt trust. I then found the TD kit that would fit that engine and shaft combo. I posted about it here once before last summer but I cant for the life of me find it now. It was on a thread about my Miss Elam 1/12 scale boat and I listed the part #s on that thread. So to answer your question more directly yes it can be done but no not in a single kit.

THANKS AGAIN ALL,

I took the boat ito the shop today. The owner, real nice guy, called horizon for me. They all agreed, and said it was the con. rod. horizon told him to pull it apart, if it is just the rod that is damaged they will send him a new one to replace it with no charge. If it is more damage to the sleeve/cylinder etc. they want to refurb it at horizon. I believe this will all be under warranty also. I am still going to look for a good price on the .18 in the meantime. The owner of the shop says that he has a friend in Michigan that they modded out the .15 Dyn, and it has been running problem free for over 3 years. I don't know why he lucked out, but... I am worried that I will crack the hull with the pull starter if i put the .18 in there. I have seen some horrifying pics on Ebay !! I hope that they don't have my boat for long. The lake is right outside my front door and is loooking extra slick today I guess I'll have to play with my cheap electric truck in the meantime, or I guess I could quit procastinating in doing my business taxes

Tower has a belt start (bump start) marine OS .18 for $85. If you want to get one with a pull start...I would not buy the marine pullstart motor ($170). I would buy the car one ($110) and a marine head ($21.50) for a total of $131.50.

It's a belt that gos on the crank flywheel and a 12 volts start that your belt goes on to start your boat.Heres the starter[8D][link]http://cgi.ebay.com/Sullivan-Hi-Tork-Deluxe-Electric-Starter_W0QQitemZ160092444934QQcategoryZ34056QQrdZ 1QQcmdZViewItem[/link]

I was referring to a motor that does not have a pull start. I think car guys call them bump start. For boats, it means using a belt and electric starter as MH pointed out.

This is the motor I was talking about: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXKGR2&P=SM

This belt starting technique seems like it would be even more traumatic to the hull than the pull statrer, and too much extra equipment.

You have a pull on your .18, right MissHydro?

ever had any issues?

BTW, the owner of the shop tore down the engine yesterday, it was just the connecting rod. no further damage to the bearing, sleeve, cylinder, and whatnot. Horizon is sending him the part so that he can fix it under warranty. Soon I will figure something out.

thanks for all the help everyone,
