Default Nitro-Vee prop shaft converstion.

I just got my prop and shaft but they accidently sent me the shat that is 1/4" longer. I was thinking maybe this will work better and get the boat on plane sooner. Would there be a problem running with a 1/4" gap between the drive and drive dog? Also the shafts don't come with the slots to tighten the allen bolts against. Do I need to make the slots for the drive dog and u-joint?

Thanks guys.

I would leave the extra 1/4" alone, you might need that when steering. I would advise that you do put flat spots on the shafts to help keep from losing them.
