Default Tuning. I suck at it.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I know my cat isn't going as fast as it should. Here are some things keeping it from doing that. I need some Ideas to change that.

I look at most of the cats on the net and it seems that their struts are a little below the bottom the hull. Am I dreaming about that??? I can kick my strut out a little but I am limited because the stubshaft is so long that it makes things get stiffer when I spin the prop after I kick it out to the max. Any ideas??? Am I way off on how my strut should be set?????

Now, my pipe is close to a foot long from the glow plug to the fatest part of the pipe The reason it is so long is because it has to stick out the back of the boat. I want to shorten it to get max rpm's but then I would have to add on the the end. Won't this make the pipe change again

Please help me, I am not good at this tuning thing, just building

Yeah, your pipe is way too long! You should start at 8-1/2 to 9" then dial it on from there. If you have to add an extension to the end of the pipe to get it out of the hull then that's what you'll have to do.
You're going to have to mess with the strut to find out where it's happy at.

Try it there to see how it runs. Don't cut the pipe any shorter, there is an alternative if you have to get drastic. GS Racing has some couplers that are "J" shaped so that the header can be cut more. I'd use them as a last resort though.

Ok. thanks. That should be better then it was anyway. I have a question about another boat. How do I get rid of cavitation??? Bigger/smaller prop????

Strut adjustment, drop it down a little until it quits.
