Default Nitro engine questions?

I would like to build a Aeromarine 31 Challenger with nitro power.

I was told that the .21 nitro engine is the way to go.
Nitro engines I am looking into - OS / OPS / Dymamite.
What make is the most reliable / quality / performance / cost.
I would like the boat to run in the 40's mph range.

Thanks

If you want 40 mph out of that boat, you better revise your engine selection. Nova Rossi, CMB and MAC should be your choices. Be prepared for sticker shock. These are not "toy boat" engines and come at a cost.

I looked into those and they are out of my $$.

What about OS or OPS?

When compared to a good racing engine, in my opinion, both have fallen off the sled. In model boat racing, speed = $$$$. You don't get one without the other. I have a friend that has a mono powered by an OS "racing" engine. My Wild Thing with a MAC 21 goes by him like he's dragging an anchor. He now has a Seaducer with a MAC 21. I don't see many OPS 21's any more. They also seem to have fallen out of favor.
