Between 24 and 30 inches. To go smaller won't leave enough room to put in all the stuff required, while going bigger will have the boat too large for good performance.

I don't have one...yet. One of my next projects is to build a .15 size boat for fun not race. From what I've seen, heard, and read, hull sizes for a .15 would be 24"-28". Of course you can go bigger but then you have to fight the extra weight and drag of a bigger hull. The smaller end of the spectrum is so that you will have room for a radio box, fuel tank, and anything else you need...and the boat still floats.

What hull are you looking at? I want to build a small Wild Thing...I've seen them run and they run well.

Now you're talking about the boats that I have the most fun with! Mine have only got .12's in them as they were made to race in the IMPBA's "A" mono class. One is 24" long that I may be picking up an identical second one of real soon and the other is 26".
I used to have the Dumas Deep-Vee 10 hull which is only 18" long and it takes a shoehorn to get everything in there plus there is an order in which to squeeze the parts in there. It was a real pain to work on.

There are a few ARR ( allmost ready to run) boats out there, these boat kits allow you to have some sort of interaction, allowing you to mount the engine, rudder, shaft, radio box and R/C gear to your design.
They will give you a suggested setup, but this is the level they could get to with the given technology of the day and to deliver it to you at a reasonable price. There will always be upgrades for any boat made, because someone owned one once and wanted it to go faster.

Hope this helps you, regards Brettos.
