I wouldn't feed all the water into the header, you'll probably lose power because it restricts exhaust.  Plus you'll restrict your much needed cooling

Here it is assembled. Haven't dropped it in water yet, but I started it up. The 3.3 with the MACS pipe is ridiculously loud, far louder than before, so I'll be running the stock muffler as well.

I finally got around to breaking in, and testing the Nitro Vee 3.3

Running the 48mm graupner prop with the 3.3 motor, it now planes instantly.  About 1/3 throttle seems to match the old top speed, and I'll need to upgrade from my stock turn-fin to push it much more.  This boat is insane!

A couple times I accidentally spun out 180 degrees...  Immediately after I hit the gas and it pulled a "wheelie"!

next I will install some LARGE turn fins, and see how fast this thing will go

I took out the 3.3 vee today.  After some driving around, engine temperatures are too low when the cover is off (never above ~210).  I think this is because at speed these boats don't rev high like a r/c car does, so it won't produce heat like it would in a r/c car.  This makes sense, since a prop spinning at 30,000 rpm might only result in cavitation.

Once I trim the cover to fit, it should sufficiently raise operating temps.

Bumping this thread back to life, I re-started my RC hobby again pulling everything out of storage and worked on getting my cars running in the last few days. I put them all away due to some sort of failure on my part but ordered the parts and got them going, what struck this flame back to life is a buddy of mine from work is into RC and was talking to him about me wanting a Spectrum radio and he said he had one he would sell me and after more talking he sold all of his stuff to me (Losi 8ight, radio, plethura of parts and 2 spare engines) one of the engine from the deal is a brand new never run TRX2.5 from his Revo... So this struck my interest to resurect my Nirto Vee... On the 4th time out she rolled over trying to take a boat wake in brackish water and ruined everything, that was back in 2003-04? I cleaned everything and put it away, suprisingly the stock .15 motor in it fired right up with fresh glow plug and fuel, electric start still works but the RTS motor is shot. Boat moved alright with the stock motor but is the TRX2.5 more power full then a pro.15... Either way the Pro.15 is probally not in reliable shape after taking a dunk years ago.

Plan B is to figure out a way to mount the MACH 427 that is also never run into the boat and do prop upgrade, and trim tabs...

I haven't ran my 3.3 Nitro Vee in almost 2 years, time to get it going again - I have some extra large turn fins ready to be installed as well, then I can *maybe* go over half throttle

Default Nitro Vee still a great boat

My first boat 14yrs ago-Have I had fun working on this boat and learning! What an fantastic boat, great design, runs out sweet, hard to flip and handles waves like no other its size I have yet to see.I made a few changes over the years-(Os .18 engine(modded by AB mods)/Macs tuned pipe/all bearings instead of oilite bushings/Robesch drive dog etc.The hardest thing for me is the outdrive system, even though its fine the way it is,I just kinda don't care for it really, has anyone out there ever tried doing an outdrive (like a stinger etc.,the way they make boats now),with the rudder system?I don't see why you would have to lose the clutch system/return to shore,(no way I'm giving up the RTS),any reason why the flex cable couldn't run in the drive dog?A flex cable is just coupled to the engine, thats what the T drive dog is,a coupler.

howdy, I've pushed the NV to the extreme's,... the hull is only capable of 50mph +/- 1mph lol.... at this point it becomes too flighty and unstable.....really a white knuckle ride and NOT for the faint of heart...x2=lol i'll try to pull up my last entries to my build.. but any ??? ask away... mpb

I know this is a super old thread but I finally got my nitro vee that my dad bought in 2008. It has never ran before, I got it working but as I took It out of the water the stabilizer bar was pushed up by a rock and the propellor chewed right through it. Now it has constant cavitation. Does anyone know where I can get replacements? Preferably metal? Thanks
