I don't think so. I'm finally returning to work on Monday and LA is a little bit of a drive for me.

Oops, I almost forgot, you might want to see a shot of the Miss Las Vegas (it's new name).
Ron, looks like your pic got bit by the bug. I suspect this is the same one.

lineman, instead of replying in the box below, use the "Reply" button above ^ and that will take you to an advanced screen. In the lower left corner you will see "Click here to upload images and files!", then you can upload shots.

I spoke to Jerry today at RCX, he said the boat might be out in about 6 weeks. The boat is AWSOME!!!! Jerry is the nicest man in the world, a real cool guy to talk too.

That might be Jerry's personal boat or else he's had it on the pond already.
I don't think that Aquacraft believes in show boats as their Top Speed 2 at the Toledo show had signs of it being run with fuel still in the lines. I'd rather see these than show only boats.
Did you get to see Jerry run the boat?

i did, but he could barely get the boat up on plain and then he had to let off because the pond was so short. he submarined it twice and he took on so much water that he had to pull it off. WOW, what a nice guy though. i must have spoke to him for abouth45 min. about the whole ordeal with the licensing and all the playing he does with all his toys.
this might be one of them but the one he was talking to me about has an os .18 truck engine and the fuel tank relocated further up. he said that he had to notch the top of the hatch so the engine head would clear since it wasnt a marine engine

You won't find a much nicer guy. He's also one of the more knowledgable ones as well. He's probably forgotten more than I ever learned

I've never met him in person but have talked to him in e-mails and on another site. He seems to be a little crazier than how he comes across in the magazine.

the miss vegas is back on towers web site again, I think it said early or late june. Atleast its on the site again. Nice pics of the boat, lets us see the inside a little and everything. Couple of questions for you guys that have been around boats a while. Compared to my proboat that has water ocasionally come over the deck on a bad launch or when it comes off plane when I slow down to end the run, do you guys see a lot of water getting inside the hull the way the cowl is designed? my proboat has a lip where this boat is opposite of that, its ressesed where the cowl fits. Secondly the exaust would be under water if my proboats exaust exited in that spot. When I end a run water would shoot right up the pipe. Does anyone know if the turn fin on the miss vegas is stock or a grim racer hop up?

Lineman has some of the best shots that you're going to see of the boat with the exception of an open radio box.
I've got a Grimracer turn fin and his were made for outriggers, not hydroplanes but could be adapted I would guess for the Miss Lost Wages.
When I talked to Mike "Grimracer" Zaborowski in Toledo last month, he was very impressed with the boat. He told me that he was driving a prototype in windy conditions and it didn't blow off the water. He also felt that it was a better boat than the Bud/LLumar as it didn't have the cavitation problems with those.

Yeah, don't know why it took me so long to get on this board. Thanks Ron for providing the link this morning.

I did the original R&D on the Miss Bud 1/12 Scale. I was provided the boat and told I had to use the exhaust system with the pipe coming over the radio box. Long story short - I got it to run. But there's degrees of "run." The 1/12 Scale Miss Bud became the biggest selling model boat on the market. I knew it would - it was the Miss Bud.

But, it wasn't "user friendly" in my opinion. So, I made "a better mouse trap." I really believe the "Miss Vegas" is the best entry level RTR hydroplane ever to be offered.

The turn fin on the boat at the show was a Grim Fin. However, the boat corners just fine with the factory fin.

Thanks Lineman for posting the photos from the show. It was just too small a pond to run the Miss Vegas. Sure did tear it up with the TS2, however!!

Maybe this thread needs to be changed to the "Miss Vegas" is out. The Miss Elam from Horizon is the "Official Licensed" version. Ah Jeez, I don't need to spoil a nice day by going there.

I might be able to change that Jerry in the headline but it still may come though e-mails under the old name. I'll see what happens.

OK, I changed the title to avoid confusion between this boat and Horizon's Miss Elam to avoid confusion in the future. Old postings will still show the old title, I can't change them.
New posters can use the "Reply" button above ^ instead of using the box below until it changes.

Jerry, welcome to RCU! Grim and Wayne had one of the future Miss Vegas boats at Charleston so I got to take a good look at it, sans decorations. NICE! I just wish they had brought the transmitter so we could have seen it run. If it does as well as the TS2, it'll be another winner.

Welcome Aboard Jerry. Just out of curiosity, how much of your Executone went into the Vegas? And yes, I'm referring to the boat you and your son ran at the Kingdome

I'm still thinking of getting one and putting a .21 in there for the Sport 20 class! Of course I'd have to try it out with the .18 in there first but this would be an inexpensive way for someone to move up to the Sport 20 class. Some of the bare hulls now available cost almost as what this one does ready to run!

Re: How much from the 1/8 Scale Executone .....

The basic hull parameters were taken from the Dave Frank 12 Cell O'Boy Oberto. Also, some of Mark Anderson's Mutt Sport 40 ideas were incorporated. The one thing everyone who has seen the "Miss Vegas" has commented on is, "Look at the room to work on it."

Re: Putting a .21 in there ....

Ron, it's been done - but not run. I have an O.S. Max 21 VZM, Andy Brown muffled 21 pipe, all Speed Master hardware, and wood radio box in one. Waiting for a Grim Fin to try it out.

JD, when do we get to see your "modded" Vegas? Also, is this just a JD toy, or is it a possible upgrade for a later production boat like the upgraded Bud/Llumar/Elam Horizon put out? BTW, do I need to add that we all like pics of new boats running?

Default RE: Miss Elam is out

Ran the Miss Vegas with my O.S. 21 VZM this morning. Lack of cooling, the rudder with water pickup wasn't picking up water, prevented me from really seeing how fast the boat could go.

But, a couple of things were apparent from the initial launch:
1. The boat gets up on step easily - I ran a X440, X437/3, and a Prather 215 and each prop got on step.
2. The boat corners very well. I was using the turn fin off my other Sport 20.
3. With the rear wing, and Miss Vegas graphics it really looks like an unlimited running across the water.

I am running 3/16th flex cable and using Speed Master hardware.

I will be trying a different rudder/making a new water pickup. Might be able to test again tomorrow.

At this time, there is no plan to bring "Hulls Only" into the U.S. That might happen once the orders for the Miss Vegas RTR are filled. But, I don't know that for sure.

As soon as I figure out how to post a photo on this forum I will. There is a photo on IW in the Unlimited/Sport Hydro forum.
