Default Thunder tiger help carb,prop

HI everyone,

thanks for your help so far,

ok I have a thunder tiger pro-15MX marine engine. so i am told, as it only says pro-15 on the side.

The problem is i cant find them anywere so i take it they dont make them any more, I need a carb for it tho. I am told that an old OS.15 engine carb will fit , so if anyone has got one hanging around or knows who stocks old parts i am desperate,

Also once i have it , IF i get it i have a hydroplane with the .15 engine in, I need a rough estimate on prop size.

thanks guys

matt

matt try prestwich models and look at the octura props they give you a guide for prop size verses engine size as do most suppliers if i were you though id look at the same size props in plastic to start out ,theyre much cheaper 80 pence or so and once you find the right size id get a cpl of diff sizes and try em out!!then go with a brass octura prop or similar!!.is it surface drive or sub surface ?.two bladed props are what you need .[link]http://www.prestwich.ndirect.co.uk[/link]

For the carb, very carefully measure the inner diameter of the hole that will hold the carb. Once you know this dimension, you'll be able to use it to find a replacement carb.

Moving on to props...

Hydros rely on a lifting prop to get the rear of the boat out of the water. Your engine is smaller than I've run, so I can't be sure what will work best. If your boat is a hydroplane, it needs a surface prop, not sub surface. The smaller props, the ones with the 1/8" shaft, on the Prestwich page are probably the range you want. However, the suggestion of buying plastic props to get to the right size is a good one. You can spend a small fortune on metal props trying to get the right size. Also, once you do get a metal one, either buy it balanced, or read the pinned thread at the top of this forum to get information on sharpening and balancing. Perhaps you should give Prestwich a call, they might be able to suggest something.

measure the tube width itll either be m5 or m4 thats mm most likeley m4 for that size engine !!. to measure the length needed try using a piece of music wire push it up the tube and measure the length you need!!.but id advise taking the old tube out and putting a new one in the same length!!.
