Default Can you tune a boat with a temp gun?

I was just wondering if it's possible to tune a nitro boat with a temp gun like you do with cars? I've been leaning off since break-in and the temps do not get higher, is this because of the water cooling?

Very well could be the water cooling. I've run motors lean and they don't get hot. The motors will be damaged due to not enough lubicants. I took the water cooling off and it got hot, 275F. This was on an outboard which has the lowerunit acting as a heat sink.

I've got one but haven't done much testing with it yet. Make sure that you are measuring the plug temp not the head.
