My recommendation is West Systems Epoxy. You may hear others that want to build fast and use a faster set epoxy or CA but in the end it will bite you in the a*%. The seams will fail and the wood will soak up water. With hard woods like birch plywood you need an epoxy that will set slow and soak into the wood to give you a good bond. I use West Systems exclusively for building and sealing.

I have never used the west systems epoxy, but I have never had any problems with any of the finishing epoxys. Pacer Z-poxy, BSI, I'm sure there are others.

I've used CA to put boats together. Just as with epoxy, the thin stuff needs to be used. This allows the CA to soak into the wood to create the strong bond needed to withhold the abuse it goes thru.

Mine were built using 20 and 45 minute epoxy most of the time. Waterproofing was done with the epoxy brushed on then wiped off the excess with paper towels. CA works for tacking pieces together.

Derek, I agree. The West systems is all I'll use for construction and sealing the interior and the initial exterior sealing. I switch to a surfacing resin like Z poxy for the filling layer prior to primer and paint. Regular epoxy is just to difficult to sand to be used for a surfacing resin.
