RE: "Miss Vegas" Race
The second District 8 "Miss Vegas" race will be held in Elma, WA on Saturday, July 29 following the conclusion of the Saturday District 8 race.
Thanks to Dor Jammer for posting photos and the result. If the paint dries on his boat by the end of July he said he'd join the fun.
We ran 1/2 course and that made for some exciting racing.

more pics of the Vegas Race today. Unsure how to format pictures and text, but since a picture is worth a thousand words, lets get some loaded.
Hope you all enjoy them

OK, who snuck in the Lynx?
OK, who snuck in the Lynx?
Yeah, ahem, that would seem to be an editing mistake on my part Ron. Seems bourbon and coke impairs my ability to focus on tiny little pictures.
On a side note, everyone please take the time to inspect the top secret photos of Jerry modifying the canopy of a Miss Vegas (2 nd photo) seems it involves carefully positioning the largest Buck knife you can find into the antenna hole and rotating until you get a good augering action. The resulting "polishing" of the hole results in a quarter sized hole allowing people with bad (or impaired) eye sight to feed that pesky antenna through the canopy in a hurry.
It is my understanding that the resulting weight lose from the hull will get you a second off your lap times!

RE: "Miss Vegas" Race
Thanks for the feedback guys. I am really happy with the color and my friend did a a bang up job on the boats paint job.
I am not a painter, and know little or nothing about paint. But he did use automotive type urethane based paint to spray it. The finish is fuelproof, and pretty scratch resistant.
One drawback to the paint job, is now everyone will know who's boat is going so slow. <grin>
To be frank though, I am very happy with the unique color and layout, as I dislike running clones of other boats. I have never understood the fascination of some hobbyist with replicating race hulls, I mean just how many Miss "add name here" can you have in just red, orange and yellow. One of my favorite things to do is check out all the different paint jobs and hull designs at the local lake of the hydro guys who are not nationaly sponsered. There is some really awesome work out there.

I think you're forgetting something Dor Jammer. The color schemes these boats come in are suppossed to look like a specific boat. Besides that, look at a 1/8th scale boat, a total replica of a full sized boat. Let me show you a few examples

RE: "Miss Vegas" Race
If "Dor Jammer" gets down to Elma, only 30 minutes from Olympia DJ, we should have a minimum of six boats, maybe seven. Leslie "Poodle" Warren has a boat, Dave Solway will have a boat, and I'm getting another one in yellow(hope the shipment of new boats comes in by July 29).
I'm planning to make mine look like the new Miss Seattle I saw in Evansville. The boat has a "retro" paint scheme. I might have a model running before the real boat runs again. In Heat 3B, the Miss Seattle blew over and really tore thing up. I saw a huge plume of water in the right turn when the boat hit the Ohio River. Don't know if there's enough CA glue in Evansville to put it back together again.
At the IMPBA Internats, the Miss Vegas challenge racing was a huge success. After four rounds in the Team Challenge, two teams were tied and we had a run off. The winning team consisted of Ernie and Cade Lefleur, Jerry Crowther, and John Brown. Jerry Crowther won the Champions' Challenge. In the first three rounds, all the boats were running at the end of the races and returned to the beach. In round four, one boat ran over a bouy and flipped and two boats collided and flipped.
The Evansville club is seriously considering ordering boats for fun races to be held at one of their members private pond. Seems like I remember something like, "Beer, steaks, and little hydros." District 4 is thinking about having each club purchase a boat and allowing one club member to race it against other club boats at their district races. The club with the most points at the end of the year would be awarded a travelling trophy.
