With 36inches, you could go with 7.5/11. I would stick with a mod 7.5. That should get you over 45mph easily. Which mod 7.5 would you use?

If you want that baby to sing, get a NELSON 7.5 power head from Gary Prusse - G&M Models. Gary can be reached (630) 279-2451. He does not have a web site nor a computer for that fact.. The power head alone (no carb) is $350 US... A K&B carb will work, but requires a sleeve..

Gary is kind of online in a way as his son David and wife Cathy are selling things for him. Their site is http://www.cdrace1.com/ Whatever Gary has, they will sell soon. I think that Dave is getting ready to take over the old man's business but I don't expect Gary to kick the bucket anytime soon, longevity runs in the family.

The Nelson will fit on the K&B 7.5/11 or Lawless lowers only. The OS is made for the OS 21 OB. If you want something else to fit that lower, be ready for fork out more $$ for a custom PTO unit. Which is better, K&B or Lawless, it all depends on what the boat was designed for. There are boats that will run only a K&B. If a Lawless is used, it'll handle like crap. Each boat is designed to have the prop at a specific spot. So which is best is what will work for the boat.
