It was my second boat, and yes , it does have problems. The internal frames need to be redone with 1/16th aircraft ply as the included 1/8th "mahogany" is basically good only for templates. The right sponson transom needs a 1/4 ply doubler glued to the inside of it's rear frame and the transom needs to be redone with 1/4 ply as well. please note, the 1/4th ply needs to be aircraft grade 5 ply from the hobby shop, not the 3 ply from the home center. The tails and wing also need to be redone to lighten them up, as they all are way too heavy. You will also not want to buy the Dumas hardware pack. The parts quality isn't exactly the greatest, so use Speedmaster, Prather or equivalent.
There are other things that need to be redone to improve performance, but this gives you a general idea. If you want to get it, I would recommend holding off on starting it till I start a build thread late next month. The information that will go into this thread will help you build a better boat as well[8D]

It actually won't be on the Dumas Atlas. It will be on 1/8th scale boats from plans, but the information WILL be usable on the Atlas. As the thread gets going, I will be showing little tips and tricks that will apply to all scale-like hydros, so stay tuned and be ready to take notes

Oh, I see what you're asking. I thought you were looking for brands, not specific kits. I don't usually look at buying part kits since they usually have only some of what you need or extra stuff you don't need. I also have the advantage of having people I know that either make parts or are machinists, so most of my stuff is custom made. Unfortunately, I don't have any of the websites to check on parts, so if Ron knows of some.............................................. .......

here is a good place to get speedmaster stuff. [link=https://www.blazermarine.com/cart.php?m=product_list&c=15]blazer marine[/link] This one has kits [link=http://www.aeromarinerc.com/]Aeromarine's[/link] but as HJ pointed out they usually include stuff you don't want or don't need and actually you are building the 36 inch so the 1/8 scale stuff will not work. I hope this helps I have a 1/8 scale Dumas ALV that I'm rebuilding and i went with speedmaster stuff from Brian and was very happy with the parts.

Another source for hardware is Gary Preusse at G&M Models, (630) 279-2451. No web site and doesn't take credit cards or paypal. In spite of these limitations, which are normally a big deal to me, he's become one of the first places I go to for parts. He's been around long enough that he should be able to tell you all the parts you need, most likely in his sleep!

Talon25, how do you figure you're hijacking the thread? It was a valid question having to do with a boat and hardware, so even though your boat is bigger, it was still worth asking imo.
