What boat is this in, the bud? Are you talking about the nuts that hold the aluminum frame on the rubber pads for the motor to mount to the rails? Turning left is unscrewing ?

I have the same problem with my wrecked Elam hull. The problem is the part of the bolt that is inside the rubber had lost hold of the rubber boot. You may be able to use some pliers to squeeze the rubber really close to the end not the middle and get it to hold so you can get the nut off. Mine are stuck to the hull and I need to remove them from the hull so I can put them into my new hull. I ordered the new kit that will arive some time in DEC.

You may have to get nasty if it does not come out..... unbolt the mount from the engine to get the engine out and out of the way. Cut the rubber mount as close to the stringer as possible and remove the cut mount. You will then have to break out your dremmel tool with the cutting attachment and carefully cut and grind the rest of the mount to cut it away from the bolt.

What are you guys talking about when it comes to rubber? This is a old style Buswieser, just the motor attached to two wing things that attach to the wood rales. The problem I have i that the screw wont come out of the rail.

I think they think you have isolated rubber mounts. Dave Are they the flat deals that have 3or4 little teeth that are drawn into the wood. If thats what they are they can be tough to get out if it is spinning. Need to get behind it with a screw driver and put tension on it and unscrew at same time if its really corroded is there room to try to grab it with some needle nose. Or try to get a dremel with cut of blade in there and cut or grind the head of the screw off and push the rest out the back then replace. Dave

No I cant think of the name of them Oh maybe there called blind nuts they have 3or4 little teeth on them its hard to explain but they have threads inside and when they are installed they barely stick out the teeth bite into the rail from the back side as the screw is tightened for the first time they tend to mess up after being used for a while. If there isnt a nut on the back side of the rail I would almost bet thats what is installed.

http://www2.gpmd.com/imaget/d/tdubq3100.jpg Heres a pic of what Might be in there. If it is either grind head of screw off or play around with trying to pry it bend it away from wood and get a pair of pliers on it. Feel on the back of the rail and see if you feel it turning when trying to unloosen the screw. I had one mess up on me and it was tough to get.

Is there a big risk of the engine flying out
because I only have 3 1/2 screws in( The troubling one is halfway out), I wont be racing, just playing around
?

I wouldnt chance it. It could flex and lead to more problems down the line. It could start to tear into your stuffing tube or the front seal on the engine.

Well, I risked it today and nothing happened. I'll eventually fix it but it feels solid. When I need to take the motor out next I'll do it.[sm=wink_smile.gif]
