Hi guy's, I am building A FF.12 Outrigger. Do I want a left or right hand wind for the flex shaft?
Thanks,
Mark

Has anyone have an explanation why everyone has moved to the flex cable versus straight shaft with universal joint (or flex joint) and thrust bearing on the strut? Is it a more efficient transfer of power to the prop or just easier?

I would guess you can get a better prop angle from a flex shaft. The u-joints on the villain ex for example need to be replaced atleast once a month they just get ripped apart from the torque, and that power is nothing next to some hi power nitro or brushless systems. These arent the facts its just my opinion, but we do have a villain ex and we do replace the u-joints on a monthly bases.

I agree Jerry, But My question is, are you building your own cable?

U-joints are becoming a thing of the past---strictly an opinion. I believe flex cable gives you more adjustment. Not only that, you have the ability to custom size, fit it, and grease it easily. U joints were made for axles, and CV half shafts. Not a point of stress during a turn on a rc boat cranking out 15,000 rpms or better. Again, strictly an opinion
