Just trying to learn. Seemed like the thread you are mentioning is more about trying to nail down the wording of the rules, not about trying to learn what they are, or might be. I don't have the experience in the hobby to partake in a discussion of what the wording should be.
I understand what you are saying about the one way bearing...makes sense. But, I thought the one way bearing stayed when a T-drive kind of thing was installed...I will have to go read up on it.

I think I can answer this. My TC31 has a one way bearing that my tiger drive engages, but that bearing is the same bearing that would be used if I was gonna use a pull starter. In my case I would like to get rid of all of that and just run a belt drive, so there would be no one way bearing. As far as I can tell thats what chuck was saying

Thanks guys for the info! I will get the electric starter system! But for now I'd fixed it.Took a silicone tube that fit the shaft and cut it thin to place it on the shaft. It works!!

another thing that works with my older nitro truck motors is to spray a little WD40 down the pullstart where the string goes in. This degreases the one way and it grips the shaft and voila! engine starts. Also storing your engine with with pullstart higher than the crank case stops the fuel from sitting in your one way and making it slip, especially if you are using high oil content hobby shop fuel.

MissHydro,
If the e start you've got does not work for you, check out the TigerDrive setup up from Sullivan. As an added bonus, you can drill a small hole in the cowl for glow and starter, to fire it up without pulling the cowl off.
As for club rules, If the referee DQ's you for how the engine got started, Who cares? Everyone will know who won, and why. It won't be because of the starter...
Have fun, L
