The only place I know of that might have those hulls(besides Pro Boat) would be Thunderboat Reproductions. Unfortunately, I don't have any contact info for this vender.

HJ, do you mean these guys http://thunderboats.toys4bigboyz.com/ ?

That be the one. One thing I can say is that there are some minor errors in some of the details(ie cowling shapes can vary from prototype, Turbine Madison rear shoes are totally wrong, etc), but nothing that anyone just looking at the boats would notice without doing some research or being familiar with the full sized boat

If the 1/8 is anything like the 1/12 they aint worth a crap!!The proboats hull arent very well made.they all have the same proublems wing tail fins cracks the radio box are to thin, servios moves/flex the box, side rails were the motor and cowl are thin/cracks.plus the back ends where the rudders are at cracks too!!these hulls are not made of good quality materials.Right now I'm doing bodywork on the hull on my 1/12 Miss Budwiser and I'd found alot of voids in the gelcoat!!
I know what your saying about the hulls being pricy! But the old saying is you get what you payed for too!! Just shop around.Go to Google.com and type rc hydros hulls and you'll find some and do the same thing to ask.com too.I hoping to build a 1/6 scale Of the MIss Bud shortly. At least building one out of wood would last longer then fiberglass and takes a better beating and streese then the fiberglass ones.[>:]

I have to agree with the Pro Boat hydros being garbage. I do DISAGREE about glass being less durable than wood, however. A properly layed up glass hull will be lighter and last as long or longer than a wood hull. If you have some basic tools, you might consider building a boat. I know of a couple of places to get glass cowlings and tail sets, though glass parts aren't exactly inexpensive. I can tell you where to get a cowling and tail set for a 2004 Bud/Llumar/Elam, but the cowling alone will run you $165 plus shipping. Just something to think about.

hears me & my dads idea: buy newton marine plans, build a plug, make a mold, and lay up our own hulls. our hulls wouldnt be gel-coated but fiberglass takes any kind of paint nicely! any ideas are welcome!

I like it. I have one question for you. Since you are going to build a boat for plug duty, are you going to make it runable?
#15

If you are going to make it a runnable hull, it needs to be built as lite as possible, while if it's going to be just a plug it can weigh a ton if you want without really mattering

Hey guys, my son is hydroguy and sometimes he logs on in my user space he is 14 and i am 53 but i am just as much of a kid as he is with this rc stuff. I REALLY LIKE BUILDING AND MAKING MOLDS FROM PLUGS AND ALL THAT CUSTOM STUFF, MOST OF MY MOLDS HAVE BEEN AIRCRAFT FUSES AND COWLS BUT A 1/8 HYDRO SOUNDS VERY INTERESTING, I THINK WE"LL GIVE IT A GO AND WILL KEEP UPDATING AS WE GO.
