I have a OS 21 XM Outboard motor, and i guess my question is that i've heard different storys on what fuel to use. I've heard use 20 to30 percent to break it in then you can move up to a higher percent. And i've heard that you should break it in with the fuel you intend on running it with. Meaning if i'am goning to run 65 percent then i should use it to break it in with. Would like to no what is the right way. Thanks

As with many things, there are differing opinions. I broke mine in with 50% fuel, which is what I race with. I started out with it somewhat rich and gradually leaned it out.

Hay wave waker!! I use trinity moster horsepower fuel 20%nitro and 18% oil.Thats what alot of guys use to breakin there motor first. Then after you breakin your motor then bump up your nitro % higher.

Ask 100 people, get 100 answers. I run what I have and that's usually the fuel that I'll use all the time. The same thing with engine break-in. I run mine rich then slowly lean it out after a few tankfuls. One buddy "heat cycles" his engines, running wide open on the straights then slows down on wide turns.

You might want to give that new engine a chance to loosen up a bit with a gallon of 20% nitro and 18% oil, some castor is good protection too. Also the engine will be easy to tune and keep running wile you are trimming and learning your to pilot your new boat; big time nitro is expensive and if your not looking for that extra 10 to 20% power increase the lower nitro fuel will be fine. run her rich and keep it cool and have fun!!!!!

I've always broke in what i run %50 and %12 oil. High nitro fuel gets you a bit more power but also make tuning much harder as setting become very touchy.

i break my motors in with the fuel i always run also, which is Odonnell 10%
and i dont really think there is a whole lot of power to be gained by going with a high % of nitro in alot of motors. I barely lost any speed (less then 1mph) going from 40% to 10% in my cat with the K&B motor.

ive heard that break n fuel should be low nitro, high oil content fuel...but i broke my SW in with 30% nitro and 14 or 16% oil (and still use it) and its been running fine..
