Default always thought the cen aquajet ran a .16 engine

i was doing a bit of matinance work to my new aquajet today, and i noticed on the side of the engine it has NT-18 on it (the same motor as the wave shark) is this just a screw up from cen, or do they run this engine in all aquajets. on the box and in the manual it says it is a .16, am i just lucky or what? the only problem is that the flywheel almost sits on the hull, there is only about a width of a peace of paper clearance, is this ok?

I dont know about the motor size but if your going to belt start it it needs enough room to get a belt in and out from under the flywheel without stalling the motor. If its a pull start it should be ok if the shaft and stuffing tube is lined up properly into the engine

If you got it from Offshore Electrics, they're selling them with the .18's installed. Others may also but I can't say for sure. The .18 is good for about another 2,000 RPM according to their owners manual.

well i know the boat is very fast with the .16 so with the .18 it should churn the water, you may want to layer the inside of the hull with a fine fibreglass matting for strength as my friends boat hull started to split as its only plastic and was taking a battering at speed on choppy water.
you could get the flywheel turned down on a lathe so its not so near the bottom of the hull because the way the plastic flexes it wont be too long before you get a hole worn through.

With the .16's and .18's being so close in size, it makes me wonder why they used the .16's anyway. They pretty good little engines once you get a few tanks of fuel through them but a little grumpy until then. Mine used to startr on the first or second pull. I did put a starter belt on mine but it fired up so well with the pull-starter that I never had to use it.

i agree this engine runs like a dream, i am using an airplane fuel tank and the engine runs it dry easy without any hickups. it makes this hobby so much funner when u have a reliable engine to back it up

I replaced the supplied tank with a Sullivan SS-4 (4oz.) tank as it fits almost perfectly in the same spot as the original.
