Default Magnum tunnel hull anyone?

Has anyone heard about a tunnel hull boat from the mid 90's. I'm not sure if Magnum is the brand, or model name.

The only info I have is the builder disappeared with some peoples money and hasn't been heard from[:@].

any info, pictures, or whatever would be great. Thanks

Can't say I do, but I know that Magnum is also a type of hull that was/is design to provide the best speed and performance to a boat using low nitro or a stock engine.

The Magnum hull was made by Charles Hawkins. I know he made them all the way up until about 2004, then the problems started with not producing the boats, but still taking peoples money. They were very good handling boats, but were built with "chopped mat" style fiberglass that is sprayed though a gun, instead of the typical cloth layup. They dont survive an impact at all. Like I said the boats that i've seen, run very well. Most guys ran them with full modified engines, in its hay day, it was designed to keep up with or outrun the Lynx, or HTB's.

IMO, not a very good "looking" boat, but to each his own.

Thanks James for the info.

Would you say one of these hulls is worth $100? 3channel radio box, fuel tank and hopper tank.

I"ve searched all over and couldn't find a think on it, so thanks for all the info.

Yep, Id pay a 100 bucks for one if it was in good shape. Do you have a picture of the one you are buying? Charles made a few versions, and im not sure which one you are getting. If you can get a picture, I can tell you how new it is.

~James

PS, I meant to say they stopped making them in 2005, not 2004. Its not an old design, depending on which one you have access to.

I don't have a picture of it yet. The little I said is all I know. Since he said something about mid 90's I'm guessing it's around that age. I'll post a picture as soon as I get one.

If I get it I"ll think about shipping out my engine to you to mod.
Thanks for the help so far.

I have some pictures of the boat now. left sponson had some repair work done, and part of the boat is in primer after some decals were removed. I like to paint my own stuff anyway.

James, any idea what model/ year range it could be?

thanks
Ken

This looks to be one of the later designs to me. Only Charles will know if it is the absolute latest. It will be a good running boat either way.
