Default K&B drive dog

The drive dog on my K&B 3.5 outboard seems to have ears on it that are too small so there is slop between the drive dog and prop. Is this normal?

Yes, its normal. Once the prop bites, assuming the nut is tight, it will stay to the side where the torque is applied. Its not uncommon at all.

OK, good. I kind of thought that, but you never know. Thanks!
