I bought this sv27 nitro about a month ago and I was told it was started once and otherwise brand new. When receiving the boat I noticed debris in the hull rust on the motor coupler and screws, and a little oil on the side of the engine. I think there might have been some fuel in the boat during shipping and I’m not sure if this what caused it.
I started the motor and it seemed to be running rich at factory set 2 ½ turns out, so I leaned it out and it ran fine. Would a boat already broken in set back to 2 1/2 turns out run to rich. I’m trying to find out how old this engine is. Is there anyway to tell if it has been started and used more than once?
Also on another note, it sucks to swim in late setember with jeans on! Lol! Just going for a quick test and I had to retrieve boat.
Thanks

Don't know if there is a way to tell if it ran more than once, maybe how much carbon in the header?
The thing about the carb setting is for us where I live 2 1/2 turn out is were it should be after breakin is complete.
since it is set at factory settings maybe thats how they ran it the one time without touching the needle, I guess it all comes down to trusting who ever sold it to you.
Dan.

Thanks Dan Good point! New to nitro!
I might have to take a look at the exhaust. I just did not want to pull apart the boat in case i need to return it. It was defenitly not as described. But seller is working with me and might send a portion of payment back.
