Default Winter boat project

Well...I just received my winter boat project in the mail (pic below). It is a .45 mono. I would call it my winter "build"...but not really building it. So I guess it is my winter "assembly" project!

It is a speedmaster hull with a CMB engine. Going to see if I can get monos figured out next year...

I hope so. I am sure I have A LOT to learn in putting this one together.

I wanted something I can run when the water is too rough for my hydros...and wanted to take a step out of RTR. I still plan on running Mod RTR in the local races, just wanted to add something to it.

If it's anything like the Speedmaster 21, you've got a great boat there!

I think it had HTB on the instruction sheet that came with it...but I have no idea if it is the latest hull. I thought they had just started into .45 monos...shows how much I know about them...heh.

I dont know what happend with Bill from rossi sales and the molds or if Bill is making them and just having HTB sell them. I have not called for parts in a while so i do not know. Yea the 45 hulls are new but replicas of the 21's from what i have heard but i still dont know what 21 hull is the latest. But as Ron stated if its anything like the 21 than it will haul some *****!!!

Bill McGraw is just a dealer for the Speedmaster hulls. When Chris Fabbro got back into making hulls again, he needed a name for them and asked Bill if he could use the Speedmaster name. Joe Knesek got one of the first ones out of the mold and is very pleased with it. Now he's sold the molds to HTB boats. It must be that being in the full-size boat business is keeping him too busy to work on R/C boats.
BTW, Chris' first hulls were the Microbursts which he sold to Dave Showers.
The first generation .21's have a deeper channel in the deck as they were designed with Nova Rossi's in mind for a powerplant. The second generation have a shallower channel so that the MAC engines wouldn't ingest water that might flow into the channel and into the carb. I think that there were some minor mods to the bottom of the hull also.
