Taylor, I taked ot one person down at the Gas Nat's who has built like 10 of them. He had gone so far as to build a fancy jig for them. He said that the nost important part was to get the bottom as level as possible. Seeing how you have the plans and the kit, note that Brian shows building them on top of a table saw if you have one otherwise a super-flat board.
Wave Waker built one so he should have a thread in here somewhere. Try using the search to dig it up.
