My experience is that the hulls vary somewhat which changes the optimum strut depth. Use the 'search this thread' function on the 'AquaCraft U-18 Miss Vegas Hydro Thread_Make it Fast!' thread and you will get lots of great feed-back focused on your topic.

Stock engine, 3/4 of an inch from the bottom of the hull to the center of the stuffing tube with a flat thrust angle.

As Clint said, hulls vary, so it is just a good starting point. Normally the engine speeds up in the turns...so they normally run better in the turns. Is yours bogging down, or cavitating (ventalating)? Is it a real Y535 (metal from octura), or the 535 stock plastic prop?? If it is the stock plastic prop, it is known to cavitate in the turns unless set deep.

Might be that your engine is not quite tuned right too.

Grim racer 36x55 prop is the one you want. can't think of the aquacraft number for it. It is slightly easier for the AQ.18 to drive, than the metal y535, so you may find the tuning necessary to use it is a little more forgiving. What % nitro are u running at this stage?
