I did that on friday. sent them a link to this thread,plus one to the madison boat garage guys too. F16man with that new header I'm getting around 8-8 1/4 this time around.The other header was 10 1/2 on the other motor. That will get cut down too. I'd figured how to piped/run the tune pipe.Just add extenion/longer tail pipe to the tune pipe. Ok what the stander lenght on a tune pipe for a CMB.21 RS?? or any.21's??? Alright I'd found that creamic coat jethot paint!! 15.00 for 8oz buts it should be well worth it. Says the heat wont harm the outside skin of the aircraft of other vehicals. Good for tubine heat flames and exaust heat.

I have mine at 8 1/2, give yourself 1/2 inch of play both ways that way you can go from 8 to 9, but 8 1/2 should be a good start.

Yes , that looks real good, nice shoehorn job he he. Better test that one in the big pond as you may run out of real estate quick.

Yes, I saw that on the gas post!! Well if I use that,theres goes my polished alum![
] Still proubley going to use it thow. Ok she'd recleared!!
But couldnt do it at the garage!![:@] To cold plus the heater I use to heat the garage with is a diesel torpeto heater and man it eats the fuel,4.00 a gallon!![:@][:@][:@] Plus the paint store didnt have my hardner for my crossfire clear!![:@] So I'd desided to reclear it with the NASON 403-00 acrylic lacquer clear.Thats whats on it in the first place. looks great!!

Hoping on tomarrow to get the header done!!

If you're going to show it in Toledo don't worry about what's under the cowling as only what gets judged is what can be seen. They only may want to look under the cowling to make sure that it is fully functional, radio gear and an engine.
Don't forget a boat stand. It doesn't have ot be too fancy as you could make a PVC stand and maybe cover it with some nice looking cloth. Making one up where the boat sits at an angle could add a nice touch to it.
Go through the pictures of previous years winners to see what they did.
Ask the Cadillac Kid, he entered a boat last year so he can give you some pointers also.

Miss Hydro;
I can remember in the Mid to late 80's my dad built a C-Stock Hydroplane for one of the Obertos'. They were a great group. We went 10 years of them sending a box to us some of their products during christmas. Being a kid at the time I felt like I was on cloud nine. So if they like your boat I would not be surprised if you get the same treatment.

Consider this sohw like your first race, use it as a learning experience if you don't get a trophy but even then you're going ot learn what it takes to wun there.
The past few years the boat categories have really come into their own in a show dominated by planes. When one takes the coveted Best of Show AND Best Finish you know that somebody has done something really special. I've seen workmanship there that would drive most people insane trying to do. Others will literally put years into a project just to compete once.
The boat and owner to watch out for is Jack Kipfer. People have been trying to beat that old guy for years. There are a lot of people that would love to see someone take him down, even for just one year. Josh Stolfuss was close last year with his beautiful wood hydroplane. It's too bad as Josh actually raced that boat after the show but unfortunately rekitted it during a race.

Very nice.
That header looks scary close to the tank in the last pic. I'd be worried that it might melt the tank unless some sort of heat shield is used.

Your Boat looks Great. Just curious did you change the flex to a .187 ? Another question , Is that crazy S bend pushrod 2-56 (for some reason it looks really thin)(the one going to what looks like the throttle)? Hope the boat works out for you.
