Default Octura "M" and "X" props - difference?

I was looking for a new prop for my Thundercat 31. Alot of recomendations for the X445 or M445 from Octura. I looked them up, and the specs for both seem to be the same for diameter and pitch. So, whats the difference betwen the two?

Thanks

ka350,

you are correct on the pitch and diameter, they are the same but

the X445 and the M445 are the same prop except the M has some work done to it.

M4 are like X4 but with the ears removed to unload the prop, the same goes with the X440/3 and the M440/3.

one of my boats has a hard time spinning the X440/3, to solve the problem I used an M440/3.

I was not aware octura had an M440/3 out...going to have to see if I can find one to try. I like my 2 blade M440 a lot.

Dan has it 100 percent right...folks were trimming the tongues on their props to unload them and get more RPM. They found it sped the boat up. So...octura decided to do the work for us...and came out with an M series prop.

Sean,

your right, you won't get it from Octura ( or can you????? don't remember) but anyway if not you can ask to have your X440/3 done if you want it converted to an M series.

Yes, they have an M-440 in a 2-blade but I'm not sure about an M-440/3. I believe that there is also an N-440 but it hasn't worked out too well. Yes, that isn't a typo, the "N" stands for Narrow.

Thanks Ron,
I should have been a bit more specific.

Like Ron said, you can get the x440 as an M440 in the 2 blade,
if you want the 440/3 in the M version you need to do it yourself or have it done by a prop guru.

Dan.
