I am looking to purchase a 0.21 inboard or outboard engine. Money is not an issue. [ novarrossi plus 35 is $399, rossi pirahna $340, CMB valvola $460 ] But first, I am looking for reliability and then speed. Hoping to have both on one engine. Anyone want to share some info. I am not counting MAC, Picco or OPS becuase they are out of the market. I hate when engines "fall" of pipe...... I have had problematic engines like the novarossi purple head...

No But I bet BBmodss has!! He's the one who'd told me about that plus 5 motor.[8D] Been driving my boat at half throtle because it jumps&dances to side to side alot. I drove it once at full throtle and ended up having a blowover.[:@] No harm to the boat thow.

Sorry Missy but Andy hasn't sold those in a while after having problems with CMB who made those engines for him to his spec's. That's why he bought the Mazak so that he can make his own. They'll be under the name of A/A whenever he gets done playing with the CNC making props.

I had A Rossi Piranha/Niagra and it hauled once it was broken in. CMB's and Nova Rossi's are in plentiful supply and much easier to get parts for.
Glenn Quarles has lowered the price on one NR engine so it's worth a look.

Missy, I see your first issue, you need a water pinch off, If your water loop is wide open, that will cause some of what your saying is wrong with that motor!

I only see two.21 on the Nova US websight. That the 35plus and the longstroke.I'd thought they had more.21's?[&:] want to see who's parts are lower cost?[&:] CMB?? or NOVA??[&:]

well i have had the novarossi long stroke and it ran really nice, but it would loose pipe. Please don't tell me that it was rich or lean, believe me i tried different pipes, closer.... farther away etc... any nice running hull besides a seaducer or speedmaster?

Well these motor love to run on the rich side. I think my CMB is at 3 1/2 turns out. Plus where did you have your tune pipe cut/setup at?? Mine is at 8 1/2"long.

that was with the novarossi longstroke, i don't remember and i don't have it anymore... but i am very interested on finding out about the aeromarine 20 cat...

I run a .21 CMB LS green head with a Novarossi carb and in my SSP20 Hydro I r8un the .21 Novarossi LS with the CMB carb ( LOL ) and an OPS 3280 pipe.

Those NR LS engines are strong contender and mine doesn't fall of the pipe, when it does its because the tune is not quite right.

was it a bit finicky to tune, SURE was. Took me a day but was all worth it, now that she is tuned its pretty easy to keep it there.

The CMB took 10 minutes, I think that was pure luck.

The NR LS is much stronger than the CMB LS but I haven't tried the CMB with the OPS 3280 pipe.

I didn't really trade carbs, when I bought the NR LS, it cam with a K&B red carb and I could not get it running properly, so I took the CMB carb and put it on it ( I wanted to run my PT Sport Hydro ) and I bought a NR Carb with the 3rd channel.

to make a long story short, when the carb arrived I didn't feel like retuning the engine so I left it on.

the NR carb is working fine on the CMB.

when you say much stronger elaborate please.. and is you cmb the front exhaust? the R.S? and what do you have the NR on and how fast?

The Novarossi Long Stroke is stronger and faster than the CMB Long Stroke, thats my opinion and experience and also of a few others.

Some people could argue otherwise or that they are both as strong and that is fine with me.

Both engines are the rear exhaust ( exhaust is facing front of boat ) I know it sounds weird but if the exhaust was over the flywheel that would make it a front exhaust.

My NR LS is on a Phil Thomas SuperSport 21 Hydro, it is coupled to an OPS 3280 pipe and I use an Octura X438 prop, I use 35% Nitro and with the needle set too a safe run it GPS'd at 48.5 to 49.8

with the needle set a tad leaner ( still safe, but it cost a plug for every race ) it ran 50.3mph. Keep in mind that there are better props that would give me better numbers.

CMB valvola is a front exaust motors. The non valvola CMB.21 RS Redhead and LS green heads are rear exaust motors.[>:] Dan what Nova carb you have on your CMB?? I'm looking for the one which has has the high speed needle setup like the buggy motors have. I shouldve tryed to out bid the one that was on ebay!![:@] It was a CMB.21RS Redhead that had a rotto carb with that setup.It was a part motor.[>:]

I was however talking about my engines.

The Nova carb that I have on my CMB is the one with the built in 3rd channel and its working fine, it is a bit bulky but I have the room.

I run 185*~195* at the plug measured while running the boat, not after you bring it back in.
