There aren't a lot of choices for a .21 Cat but the most popular are the Aeromarine and AC Model Boats hulls.

hi ron,

thanks for the advise, sort of interested in the ac model cat (lightning), but don't know about the performance. Are this hull good for multi boat condition ( choppy water)?

thanks

All R/C boats can only handle just so much in the way of water conditions, the idea is not to try to outdrive whatever conditions that you're facing.

RCkent, are you looking at just fooling around, or are you looking at racing??

Point I am trying to get at, is if you plan on racing, I would check into the local area clubs, and see what makes class at their events. That is, what type of boats get enough entrants to race at the local events.

A .21 cat would be pretty neat, but I have not seen anyone run one around here. I am sure other areas are different.

Anyhow, just some food for thought.

Sean ,good point. How many of us would LOVE to race a .21 Cat if there was a class for them. If you want to race, they throw you in against the 'riggers.

hi sean, ron

thanks for your valuable opinion, actually the purpose of building a .21 cat is that i have not build a cat before. All the boat that i previously built are mono hull, such as seaducer sd2 21, aeromarine titan 21 and super gator etc. So catamaran is a new category that i would like to explore.

And i built this cat is actually for racing, we do have .21 class race here in malaysia, but we don't actually have a "catamaran" class. Therefore, it's kind of a mixed hull race, and the course is either oval or "m" shape , whereby most of the participants are using mono hull. This is why i m concern about whether the cat can handle multi boat condition.

thanks

We do have an Open Cat class and do have an ofshore class where anything goes. In my district there is a Cat that does win a lot not only in oval but shows them the way around the course in offshore which also is M shaped.

rckent,

a good friend of mine has the lightning Cat from AC, he had it for sale here on RCU and I would have to check if he sold it or not, but thats beside the point.

Just wanted to give you some info on the Cat, he ran his with a Mac 21, 3280 pipe and 35% Nitro. It ran a consistent 41 to 42mph (GPS) handles very nicely.
AC makes some nice racing boats, I have one of the Lightning's big brother the Blast Cat.

Dan.
