Want to build a racing hydro ?
I know there is some info on here about my question, But to avoid a jacking, i have a question as a noob. I recently purchased a WHH team pro with a mod 5 engine, Great fun granted ! But i want to build a fiberglass hydro that i can race in a class here in washington state. I would like to build a nitro tunnel in the 34" to 45" range. I used to race 7.5 outboards with Prather hulls about 15 years ago. So i have looked at aeromarine and a couple other's, What is a great set-up ? Speed, maintenance, I really want a very high quality boat. Looked at aquacraft not impressed. Love my WHH ! What do you pro's suggest. I have a Futaba fasst 4pk ordered and would like to start yesterday. Thank You For any input !
Also is wood a better way to go, Also been looking at Dumas hydro kits, But i don't want to buy a entire woodworking shop to build it.

The aeromarine hull is nice, the dumas has horrible wood in the kit , you would need to recut all the heavy mohagany parts out of good aircraft grade plywood. actualy the dumas kit done right is a very strong hull and pretty fast too. Also do not use the dumas hardware as it is not good quality.

Hey Dan, Sorry maybe i should look deeper into what classes are available to run in district 8, But my interest is 1/8th scale hydro's, Dont care much for the smaller class boats. Prefer a larger craft but not gas, Already have a new WHH gas boat. Would like to do nitro for racing, and maybe run my gas in a sport class. Was looking at aeromarine, What do you think !

If you are only looking at scale boats, you might be better off talking to the two local clubs, R/C Unlimiteds and Unlimiteds NW to see what boats are available FIRST!!!! Once you find out what boats are available, then start looking for a hull. You may find that the only way to get the boat you want is to build from wood, meaning Newton Marine for plans and some wood working tools
