Default Dumas Tunnel Hull? help identifying...

I've been searching the net for the last few days to try and determine what this boat is. I think it is a Dumas but I haven't been able to find find anything like it. There is what looks like the word 'boat' showing of an emblem and I think it is the 'a Dumas boat' stamp at the back under the cowling.

Can anyone shed some light on what this is?

Sure thing as we just had another thread recently asking about the same hull. This is one that I had back around 1979-80. Yes, it is a Dumas and one of the Hot Shot hulls, the first one they had in fiberglass. It might have been the Hot Shot 24 but wouldn't swear to it.

what is the length on yours,I was just given this one that has been sitting in a basement for 15-20yrs in good shape, looks the same.mine does say a Dumas boat inside.called Dumas and they said it was the hotshot 3.5(#1326) it is 27" long from the very front, but if you look at the new version the nose has changed.Im hoping the parts still match up as I need to complete this one.Ill start a new post with all the pics.

Rather than comment on your new post, thought I'd comment here.

If you want the boat for fun, fix 'er up and go - if you want to race, its not gonna be competitive. I bought one too but never bothered getting it running and bought a Miss Bud RTR instead.

The two boxed out areas are for 1) gas tank and 2) radio box (which consists of 2 servos - one for throttle & one for steering, your reciever, a battery pack and linkages).

Take time to look at some tunnel hull pics and threads and your on your way.

I dont run tunnels, but one of my friends is avid about them.

For fuel tanks, take a look at Sullivan. Servo's.... maybe a Hitec HS 85 MG for throttle and HS 645 MG (or higher) for steering. I bought my latest battery packs from cheapbatterypacks.com and chose to have them make a custom pack of 5 cell (6 volt) AAA 700.

If you join IW, they have a forum dedicated to just tunnel hulls and you'll find many pics on how people have set up their boats... especially radio boxes and linkages.

I have one, too and I really like it. My camera is on the fritz, but if you're interested, I'll get one when the camera batteries are charged. I took the option to cut away the motor mount plate and moved it forward about 2". This moved the engine between the rear of the sponsons. I was new into R/C boats at the time and was told that was a hot setup. The boat handles great and is fast, but as the other guys are saying, it's a sport boat and not a racer.
