My Point exactly miss H, Synthetic Oil is not good for break in, and 80% of your oil is synthetic, 20% castor. I run straight castor during break in,, NO Synthetic.

Ron a little epoxy on the water line should hold as well as balsa would, I put Basswood in the rest of the corners, and I can notch a piece and put it there if I have to, just like I ran the water line Under the engine mount. Besides,,, It's there now, and I would Destroy the side of the boat trying to move it,,[:@]

If that cooling line is flush with the top of the side, or close to it, it can become part of the fillet that the deck attaches to. In other words, in that area the cooling line becomes part of the structure.

I do have aquart of traxxas 33% racing fuel left that I could burn off. I'd added 3 oz of castor oil in it to boost oil% up in it. dont know if I should run it because I was breaking that motor in with 40% nitro.?

The higher % of castor oil in the 33% would be better for break in, but I don't know that engine and what mods are done to it, and how it will react to even lower % of nitro. It definitely won't perform any better but IMO it will be better for break in. From the reading I have done and engines I have delt with, the Higher Quality an engine is the harder it is to break in, and the importance of doing it right. Most Mod engines are using 40% nitro "Minimum". Dropping down nitro% will only drop performance a little, when you go back to 40% just run 1 easy tank through it before you hammer down.

You got some fine engineering. amax Do the .18 need a waterline? Did anyone try to run a .18 without waterlines? I guess the .18 throw more heat.

On a rigger I'm Not sure Yet. in a sport .18 hydro I actually run the water through an exhaust cooler first then to the head to heat the head up, especially on the side exhaust engines, they have larger transfer areas cut in the block so they run extremely cool(it's one of the reasons people have a hard time tuning one). I restrict the water at the outlet also to let it heat up more. My rear exhaust engines dial in around 140*F and the Side Exhaust engines dial in around 110*F. In a Sport Hydro they will Overheat without water.

If it's the one that I think that it is, that's not an easy one to copy. If it's the Grim Racer cut it looks unusual.

As you can see those are two different monsters, the 440 will not give you the same characteristics as the 1440, they are 2 completely different blade shapes. You can notch the 440 at the hub to unload the tip so the smaller 12 engine can turn it, or back cut the entire trailing edge and do a bit of cupping on the blade to get near to the same performance range. The only way to get the Ride\Performance of That 1440 is to Get One. It looks like he puts A Lot of work into that prop, it definitely wouldn't be an easy one to match.

AB it looks like you need to take a Big Stick to the pond with you and beat That Beaver in the head that's been Chewing on that 1440. or do you have Turtle Problems the same as we do down here..[:@] I Hate Turtles[:'(][:@][:-][X(]

That'll have to do in a pinch!
Gonna try to get mine fired up tomorrow then to the lake really soon but don't know if I'll stay in town or head up 50 miles to the club's lake. I'm afraid that if I go north I might stop at the trailer dealership across by the overpass just before I get to the lake. I saw a nice one for sale today on the way home from my niece's graduation party too.

yeah speaking of chewed props I had one I just did a ton of mods to and was to the point of being perfect for the boat, I had a guy who I THOUGHT knew how to launch a boat toss it for me well he tossed to hard and to close to the bank and 100% wasted my prop, also have had 2 people sub my old 3.5 tunnel so I got selective as to who is at the other end of my toys!

I ran .12s all day yesterday and am going out today. I have one .18 and two car .15s none are water cooled and doing great. I am finding that a little smaller prop than the 440 works alittle better on the sport type engine with a little less stuff than the more powerful engines. well going to the pond seeeee ya all later

I have broken in 2 newbies on the launch, My buddies are new to the hobby. We have had our share of blooper's on the launch. too many The one buddy has it down . Let's not talk on the other.The .12 small size makes it easy to one man launch & drive. My V es are setup for semi slow speed , just having fun, wave-jumping

ORIGINAL: misshydro

amax on odonalds race fuel has both costor oil and synthetic oil in it.. mark is so far back loged it would be amonth before i get the 1440 prop[&o].. trying to find out what other props will work on it.

I've got about 6 or 7hrs in on testing props....

Here's what I've been able to pull well besides the 1440:
Prather 215 (just sharpened & balanced);
Octura 1640 reduced to 36mm (3.0 cup);
Voodoo Props SS 39.9x21 (just sharpened & balanced)
GrimRacer 40x53 (37.8mm barr cut 3.1 cup).

My setup is a 3 port NR (@1.5 tanks thru it); MACS 2.5 pipe set @6 3/8"; total weight RTR 2lbs 12oz. Interestingly, since Rod opened up my carb to @.280, I can pull more prop than my 2 1/4 lb boat I ran last year (the carb was .254 bore).

Ok Good news!...Mark did my prop up for me and was sent out lastnight!! .. Joe just got done talking to mark. Mark said these .12 need small props to unload these motor powers. Props from 36mm-38mm. There might be a carbon fiber tune pipes in the works... Mark going to see how long it will take to make them and cost on them.. He has a friend in AU doing testing on it now. Joe told him keep us in line for one if they make them.

Mark sells the carbon fiber pipes too.

I've been outside trying to get the .12 and .21 riggers fired up for the first time. Tried the .12 first and the throttle servo mount broke off so I fixed that with some 6-minute but that was after I tried to fuel it up hooking the pump into the wrong line. Seems I had them crossed at the tank. [sm=angry_smile.gif] Yeah, I felt real smart there! I has a lot of fuel in the engine to clear out. Had to swap out starting belts as the little one from Glenn was too small for trying to turn over a new motor.
It took all 24 volts to fire up the .21, boy, that baby is tight when new even with a loose plug!

Well unless Old Murphy Bites me on the butt(knock on wood,,LOL) I will have mine painted by the end of the week, 1st coat of epoxy on the outside is almost ready to sand. I need to get my Extra set of sponsons built so I can paint them at the same time and All will match.[8D]
