Default Thunder Tiger Outlaw engine swap

Hey Guys lookin for some help for a friend. He bought a Outlaw that has the TT .46m engine. He somehow warped the head on it and he wants to swap out the engine to something a bit better. Of course a direct swap with minimal effort would be ideal but we are open to suggestions. He was thinking a Rossi but again we're open to any thoughts as to a better engine as I can't really help him since I race gas. Cheers....

The Rossi is a move up from the TT engine. On another forum site there was a guy who wasn't happy with his engine so he dropped a MAC .45 that he borrowed from a buddy. It was a night and day difference for that boat! He tossed the clutch also as his was eating up a lot of bearings and mounted the engine in the hull using a Speedmaster motor mount.
His best bet is to find a rear exhaust engine as that will also make things easier with the pipe opening in the cowling.
He might want to check to see if he can get a K&B 7.5 ( www.mecoa.com ), they're usually priced good for a 7.5cc.

Thanks for the link Ron. Do you know where to get Mac motors from? I tried CMDi racing but can't get to the motor listings....O.K. found some links....

You're the second one who's asked that in the past hour. MAC engines are no longer made so finding one isn't easy or cheap. IF you can find one it will probably go for $400.00 or more new.

Yeah the O.S. seems to be readily available and costwise much cheaper. Just wondering how reliability is? Any way it has to be better than the original TT motor. Thanks....

I had the same problem with my OS .46, it split diagonally across the bottom.

Any thoughts as to why this would happen? Perhaps too thin of a casting? What if a person went with a smaller engine like the dynamite brand? Again I'm not too familiar with nitro stuff beyond the old cox .049 when I was younger LOL......

Are the O.S. 46's cracking from using two-piece motor mounts?? My guess is yes. Use an Octura Humdinger mount and you should be fine. It is a one piece design.

As far as price on the O.S. .46, keep in mind that it does not come with a flywheel or header.

I really couldn't tell you why they break but it must be a very common problem. I sent my old one to a OS parts collector in Germany.
