I bought a os 18 inboard brand new super cheap. Reason it was cheaper is because it has no pull start. I figured I could figure out something. I heard there is a band for my sullivan aircraft starter. Anyone have info how that works? What heppens when your not using the band? how do you get it off. Whats involved and approx how much is a pull start conversion. I have a aquacraft 15 will the pull start work on the 18? Are there any other options?

We call it a starting belt but it's better known as a sewing machine belt. If you have a grooved flywheel then you're on your way. You just place it in the boat around the flywheel after removing the flex cable then put the cable back on, that easy. The belt just lies in the bottom of your boat while running.
To save some bucks, I pick up used ones from a local sewing machine sales and repair shop as they will replace used belts on trade-ins and those in for repairs. Prather, Octura, Aquacraft and others sell them also.
This is an Aquacraft belt in place. It's a little stiff but may become more flexible as it gets used.
