Hi all. I have a go engine 28 and a cy vertex 25 and it seems that both of them will only run if the hsn is open about 6 turns.I have had each engine in the same boat and different boats and I don't know what it could be. They have each used the same tank and the same pipe, but neither seems to be bad. Is this a backpressure problem? Fuel tank problem?Any help would be appreciated. By the way,the go engine used to run great at between 3.5 and 4 turns out on the hsn.I did change fuel. I'm lost. Thanks again.

Hi again.I forgot to say that when the hsn was set to factory, the boat would go only about 40 yards maybe and then die. Easy to start back though.

sound like its still lean...Ok turn the HSN away the way in.. then turn it 3 1/2 - 3 turns out to start with..most 2.1+ around about 3 1/2 - 2 1/2 out..The motor should sound like of dogish until you burp/the throtle and it should clear out...Check to see if fuel has any leaks.. plus check fuel line and pressure line for pin holes=that will make you motor run lean on you..try these out first, then let us know...

Thanks for the reply. I went through the whole sequence back and forth already to no avail. I was wondering if the bearings are shot from water entering the engine over time.I'm in San Diego and our local rc boat lake is salt water. Both engines have seen their share of clam shells.Let me know if this is a possibility.

it might be...How old is the motor??did you flush the motor out with wd40 after you got saltwater in the motor.. your subpose to flush cooling lines and the rest of the boat with freash water..because salt water is crosive to alum parts..

Very often when you need to go lean like crazy on the HSN and you have checked and double checked everything else for air leak (fuel line, carb seated correctly, carb O ring, ect. ect) than the most likely culprits are the bearings.

Hi Dan > I took the engine apart and I could see light through the front bearing. I had a boat that liked to act as a fish tank sometimes and I guess I didn't flush the engine as well as I should have.Expensive lesson.Thank you for your input. Take care and happy boating!

I've been running the Go Engine .18's for some time now, I haven't ran the bigger ones much. But they all run with the HSN turned Out(richer) further than the other engines I've run, and they tend to run Cooler also.
Like all nitro engines, Finding the Sweet Spot on the HSN takes a little time Don't get in a hurry and make Big Adjustments to the HSN, ONLY Turn the HSN 1\8 turn at a time then run it A Few Laps and Adjust Accordingly.
The go engines also take a bit more running time to get Fully Broke in, with the 18's it's generally around 6 to 10 tanks of fuel before there hitting Peak Performance (this Is a Good thing).
If the Engine Screams for half a Lap and Dies,,It's To Lean. When you remove the glow plug it will probably be Shiny like it hasn't been used or Twisted and Distorted if It's Real Lean.
If the Engine is Real Sluggish on the stand and dogs on the pond, but it does continue running just at what seams to be half throttle,, It's To Rich. When you remove the Glow Plug it will be Black and\or Wet.
When the Engine is Dialed in it will be A Little Sluggish on the stand unless you have the Idle High, I prefer to Idle Up via the throttle rather than Lean the LSN the Go Engines Like A Lot of Fuel. When you remove the Glow Plug After a Good Run it should be White or Light Gray, Dry and Undistorted.
Using Good Fuel and a High Quality glow plug at the Proper Temp for the % of Nitro your using is Very Important Also.
Low Nitro: 10% to 20%, and High Oil 18% to 20%, need a HOT Glow Plug
Mid Grade Nitro : 30% to 40% with Oil from 12% to 18%, need a Medium or Standard Glow Plug. (40% with the Lower oil % will Sometimes Benefit from using a Cold Plug, Especially If your Compression Ratio is High)
High Nitro: "50% +" with Oil From 10% to 18% ( Only Recommended if Your An Experienced Engine Tuner) Will Need a Cold Glow Plug.
I run 60% Nitro with 12% Oil(Synthetic\ Castor Blend) and a McCoy MC9 Glow Plug, in the .18's with Max Speeds around 47mph.

If you are looking for replacement bearings [link=http://www.vxb.com/page/bearings/CTGY/HybridCeramicBearings]VXB Bearings[/link] ,has Good prices on SS & Ceramic Hybrid Bearings if you know the Bearing Dimensions. Depending on the performance level your looking for they have Some Lower Priced Hybrids for the Standard Pond Hoping or the High Priced Ceramics for Racing applications.
[link=http://www.bocabearings.com/main1.aspx?p=showsearchforpage&bc=SK&type=K&cat=rccrossrefguide&pg=2&mfr=705]Boca Bearings[/link] also has the ceramics, and they Have them in kits for the Go Engines, but I'm Not sure they have the Lower Priced Stuff.
Heres a vid of one of the Go Engine 18's in My Miss Attitude.
