Outrigger Help
I just got a 7.5 hawk outrigger kit and need to find a decent engine for it. would like to runn in the 60's. also i would like to know of some decent rudder and prop setups that arent top dollar but work good. any help would be greatly appreciated. This is my first outrigger build. ive built a crackerbox boat before so this should be somewhat similar, but any help is greatly appreciated.

RE: Outrigger Help
If you want the Hawk to be in the 70's, get ahold of Gary Preusse.. He designed the boat and can help you go fast.. Gary will be able to provide you all the information you need on the Hawk riggers. Phone - 630.279.2451
a 90 in a 45, not a chance... |
RE: Outrigger Help
i take it then about a .67 is most i can go. thanks for the phone number

RE: Outrigger Help
Before you put a larger motor in the boat, give Gary a call.. If you let him, he will chat your ear off.. You will find out the latest and greatest mods for that boat from Gary.

RE: Outrigger Help
I kind like the turnfin that's For sale @ Zippkits. You can use the .21 Zip hardware on the.45 Hawk. Just another option. If your a builder then you'll be back to Zippkits. When rigger fever sets-in The Octura strut & rudder are heavy. Liter is faster 60 MPH . Did you happen to look at the .21 Zippkits [World Record] driven by Martin Truax Jr On Joe's web site. The .67- .90 are being replaced by Gas. Why cost Nitro is not cheap any more. As is glow plugs. I can eat up a gallon in one afternoon. I used 3 gallons running my .21 & .12 all season long. .45 engines are not too bad.

RE: Outrigger Help
Al Hobbs should have some AA .45 engines in stock still. He is on IW. Do a search for that forum and look under Manufacturer's section. I can't give you a direct link on this forum. [:o] These engines should be fast!

Check out the Speedmaster struts at www.rossisales.com
http://www.rossisales.com/SPDS-007-187-ROUND.jpg You could probably use the short brackets on your rigger. |
RE: Outrigger Help
Yes Craig that's a good one. I want a AA engine, but the $ made me think twice. But I'm assuming everyone is broke like me. At the moment. But I still want one. The green head.21 CMB that I got a deal on is my new girlfriend. The Zip.21 hull is still in the box. They go together fast I'm not worried
Craig, You have a package on the way. |

RE: Outrigger Help
Yup, that's their FLAG epoxy. The FLAG epoxy is a little thicker than what I suggested, but will work fine.

The mailman said 1 day Craig
I wanted to give you something in exchange for that fuel tank. No it's not a .45AA from Al markoverclock ,a credit card works well with epoxy you can save a pot by putting it the fridge. If you make too much. I like this http://klasskote.com/index.html |

I like this http://klasskote.com/index.html It's going to be warmer this weekend. I think Karl and I will have to run his 3.3 T-maxx to get our nitro fix. :D We ran it 2 weeks ago in 25 degree weather and snow. The nitro engine ran real well, just get the engine started before the cold outside weather gets to the engine.... My basement shop is a steady 63 degrees during the winter. |
