.32 Inboard Motor

After replacing my engine, I was tuning it up and it has seemed to have broke the piston arm. This has happened twice. My question is, does the motor need to be under load to tune, to prevent the arm from breaking, or is it something all together different?

NEVER rev these engines without a load on them or well you know what happens
first off you want them rich when on the beach as they will lean out when under load 2 what fuel are you running you want at least 16% oil ilike 18% most car and truck fuel is around 8%-12% oil

For the initial run, I wouldn't use fuel with less than a 20% oil. I actually bought a quart of 30% helicopter fuel for the first couple of tanks in my boats due to the higher 20%+ oil content. On the initial run of a sport 20 with a NR 21 5 port, I ran it so rich that we had to pinch off the fuel line to the carb to get it to start. Next run will be leaned out a bit and after that, I'll be switching to 50% nitro with 18% oil for the normal fuel since I've only got 13+ gallons in my garage:D

If the rod spun the bronze rod to crankpin bushing breaking the rod, there is residual bushing material still left on the crankpin..
This residual has to be completely removed from the crankpin or you will just continue to kill the new conn rods when you start the motor.....
You need magnifiers to see the residual bushing on the crankpin.....Scrape off the bushing with an exacto knife and then polish the crank pin
with tripoly jewelers rouge and a buffing wheel......
