1/8 scale miss bud

Has anyone heard of the performance of this large scale?
I had a 1/12 scale that was the worse engine and boat performance i've ever had.

Yes I did run the boat this weekend, it was fast and handled well even in some choppy water, the only thing I advise to people if they buy this is to put foam in the front of the intake, because if you bite a high wave the water enters and stalls the carb, Also add a auto bailer this is a life saver and very effective. Horrizons reveiew is underated my boat was clocked @48 mph. on flat as glass water this boat does not need a toss in the water she planes out as soon as you jam the throttle! I will post pictures as soon as the get developed.

What are yuo looking for? I have a Kit for the 86 Miss Bud. If you build it straight and true it will be a FAST boat. If you are interested E Mail me and I can send pics.

Is Horrizons a website that does speed reviews?

RE: 1/8 scale miss bud

Hello,
I have the 1/8 Miss Bud.
The first thing I did was shoot two cans of Great stuff (minimal expanding) foam into the sponsons. 1 can per sponson. You don't want to loose this boat due to insufficient flotation. Next, install a water pump. If you break a flex cable and the boats not moving you're not cooling the engine. Therefore the water pump is a piece of insurance not to smoke your engine. Also install a couple of Auto Bailers.
Otherwise the only way to get rid of the water is to turn the boat upside down.
I've also installed a big bore carb and this boat ROCKS... Coming out of a turn at full throttle is like watching the Real Miss Bud on the Ohio River at Madison,Indiana.
Take the time to sharpen, balance and polish the prop.
The latest issue of RC Boat Modelers Magazine has a big artical on Miss Bud and is on the cover.

Hey Steve,
The water pump is a Walbro, you can buy one at your local hobby shop or sites on line. It will come with installation instructions. You will have to remove the engine to get to the carb. Take the carb off and the intake manifold, you will see two vacuum ports. As per the instructions w/ the pump, you'll have to drill a hole in the bottom of the manifold at the vacuum port using a #29 drill bit and tap with an 8-32 for threads. Be sure to use Blue Thread Lock for the pressure fitting as well as everything you put back together. Don't want anything coming loose.
Check out www.warehousehobbies.com for the water pump and the foam piece to hold the pump in place. I think you'll find the instructions very simple to follow.
Keep me informed with your progress.

Regards

That is cool! I been thinking of the larger Miss Bud, RTR or kit. I didn't realise this type of hull can go fast at all. Any recommandations of which big glow or gas hull to go after? Who is producing the newer Miss Bud X-wing? I think I will try out some of these!

Lucky, no offence to you but if this is the Proboat, 1/8th Miss Bud and you didn't do any mods to it like move the engine foward or find a way to adjust the strut height than there is NO way it is doing 48mph. I had mine radared and it looked fast but was at 34mph. Even at 34 it wanted to get crazy and flip over.

Lucky, where do you run your boat? I live close by and I am in the process of building a Aeromarine Avenger cat.

I live in Cheektowaga, the last time I ran it was @ 3mile greek campgrounds in lewiston.
Id like to take it to UB's lake before I leave. Im moving to south carolina next month, they have a nice boat club called east coopers model club, right down the street from where I will living. The cat your building sounds nice, I'm new to boats, I use to fly helis, but they cost to much to maintain, "like crashing" My jr ergo cost me $300 bucks because of tops bag! it sucked up in the tail, and you no the rest!

2 Cans of expandable foam in your boat?? Wow, that's way too much don't you think?? Usually that stuff never stops growing and will eventually break the hull. Don't let direct sunlight hit it for long periods of time or it will expand again! [:@]
I always get excited to see the 1/8 scale posts only to be dissapointed that it's a kit boat post. I've been waiting for some scale guys to post about their boats they built themselves like my '94 Dave Brown hydro I have. Oh well!

RE: 1/8 scale miss bud

Trust me I would love to build one of dave browns master pieces!
If I could only find the time!
I seen a web site cant remeber what it was but one of his outriggers hit 130 mph that is insane but sweeeeet!

RE: 1/8 scale miss bud

If you look at post #5, I said two cans of (minimal expanding) foam.
If you use the regular expanding foam your asking for trouble.
I shot two cans of (MINIMAL EXPANDING) foam in my Miss Bud 1/8 scale. One can per sponson.
