7.5 marine engines
Thinking about building a new Hydro over the winter. Which manufacture still sells a 7.5 CC engine ?
Actually, forgot about MAC 45s . Any others?
AA, Nova Rossi, OS all make a .45/.46 though all but the OS you have to order directly from the distributor
Thanks. Do you have a contact/website/distributor for AA and Nova Rossi? OS manufacture website says the VM-X is discontinued. Is there a warehouse somewhere that still has those in stock?
I sent a message to the guy that does AA engines, I'll either post or pm you his contact info after I get a reply. As for the rest that I can find, here you go:
http://www.novarossi.us - Glenn Quarles C.M.B.-CRAPSHOOTER BOATS - Stuart Barr 1406 SHERWOOD DRIVE-GREENFIELD, INDIANA 46140 USA E-mail: [email protected] |
Thank you for the leads Hydro Junkie. Which one of the engines would you use?
Here is the OPS site ,not sure if they are state side I like CMB and Stu is close by The Vac or RS is fine The older purple head are still running strong.

The MAC engines haven't been made in several years after a falling out between CMB and Andy Brown. I haven't seen an OPS in a long time as Aeromarine used to carry them.
Jerry Crowther at Seaducer Boats also carries CMB's. With the CMB or Nova Rossi you can't go wrong in a 'rigger, they're both at home in those hulls. What hydro are you looking at? |
You have a PM about the AA engines
Looks like the pool of manufactures is dwindling. Im probably going to build a Whiplash or something along those lines.
Thank you Hydro Junkie.
Thank you Advanced Builder.
The Whiplash is a very good hydro. It seems to be a battle between Brian's boat and Phil Thomas' Sport 40 in this neck of the woods. It depends on what you want, a wood kit or epoxy-glas hull.
CMB, Novarossi, or AA will be the most competitive, along with the new Picco 45 that used to be available from Hallam Hobbbies in Canada. OPS is available from GotNitro, they are out of California, but they are just the same engine as from years ago. Join Intlwaters and you will have a much easier time finding suppliers.
Thanks for the suggestions Blackout.
I heard something from italians about Picco 45, they want to start produce it this winter, but how much and how long nobody doesn't know.
