K&B 7.5 Outboard
 

Hello,

I fly and collect airplanes & helicopters as well as engines. I've not endeavered into boats but am very interested. For my nitro engine collection I'd like to purchase a NIB K&B 7.5 outboard. Is $300 too much to pay for one?

Depends on how deep your pockets are. What model is the 7.5?

8701 are the older style, not worth that asking price.
8702 can be worked up to a powerhouse motor. Don't know if I'd pay that much.
Pro - decent motor, doesn't like a pipe unless you drown it with fuel.
Semi Pro / Super Pro - Better than the Pro, can pipe these up.
8703 - Haven't seen one nor heard how they run.

Thing about K&B motors, they don't make them anymore. Sure MECOA shows them on their site, but try to buy one from them.

Watch what sells on ebay, might give you better knowledge of what the going prices are for these motors.

You answered my concerns. There is a NIB 8701 on eBay for $280. I just want one for the looks in my curio with all my other motors. Money is not a concern but I don't want the 8701 based on your comments. Thanks for the expertise, I'll keep looking and perhaps I'll find one that is nice to look at and worth the investment.
