Thanks wave waker, Tomorrow I'm going to test my TS2, but only 3,5 oz in the nose. After this, I'm going to fit the recovery pad, because I have a Rossi engine waiting but I need to learn more about the tunnels too.

here we go!! the set-up i'm been longin' for:D..rossi powerhead and tuned pipe, irwin lower CF, hi-jack motor mount...break-in tomorrow planning to extend my lunch break at work so i can run this in the local park pond:D,,ppsstt! don't tell anybody.[sm=lol.gif]..i can't wait the weekend...the OS xm will be the stock B tunnel....

just updating, ts2 runs great :Dno more bouncing problem, no weights at all, cg somewhere 8 inches, prop setting just above centerline no angle,,now workin for the best prop..

Has anyone been running out of fuel with the TP2 tank setup. I always thought you never run a klunk in a boat tank, you always hard pipe the tank. I would think when the tank got low the fuel it would shift to the back of the tank and the motor would tend to die out. Also I would think you would have to turn the tank around and have it face the front of the boat to it work correctly. Anyone thoughts on this matter.

I'll see if I can convince someone to film them during our club race today. We've got 3 or 4 in the club. They usually don't get filmed because I haven't figured out how to hold the camera and at at the same time.

As the fuel gets low it does go to the back and at full speed you can hear it starve for fuel. When you let off the throttle it runs great again, this is how I know it's running low. Since I'm not racing at this point I may just try turning the tank around, that should help.

i was wondering how lean is everybodies needle valve setting in here i hear that if it is to lean it could destroy your engine. im on 1 1/4 turns open right now and i think i can still turn it somemore for more speed is this safe to go beyond this setting? im running an os 21xm on 20% nitro.

Every boat/engine/fuel/plug setup is slightly different, so it's difficult to provide an exact recommendation on where a needle should be set. Compounding this are temp/humidity/air pressure differences.

I have no idea where mine is, I have not screwed it in and counted since the first day I ran it. When I go to the pond it's usually morning and a little cooler than when I last ran it. I open the needle 3 or 4 clicks and run it. As the day progresses and it gets warmer, I gradually lean it out 3 or 4 clicks. I suspect I'm still running rich because the only time my boat has died is when it flipped due to hitting a wave or a bouy. I'm happy running rich, it means the engine will last longer and my boat won't die during a heat from being too lean.

Here's my thoughts on trying to squeeze too much out of an engine by leaning it out. Most of my running time is racing. When racing, my highest priority is to finish. Finishing, but being slightly slower is much better than having a boat that died on the last lap because it was too lean. I've watched a huge number of boats fail to finish heats this summer due to being too lean. In one of the heats at our last club race, I was in a comfortable second place. The person in front of me was about the same speed, perhaps a bit faster, so I was content to let him stay out in front. Part of my reason for doing this is he often makes mistakes when I pressure him. ;) As he was nearing bouy 4 on his last lap, his boat died, too lean. I just cruised past and collected another 400 points.

The post before yours provides one guideline for setting the needle. If the engine starts slowing down at full throttle as the tank is getting lower, it's too lean. Mine gets slightly faster as the tank gets empty, a sign that I've got it set comfortably rich.

My boat ran awesome and I had it trimmed out perfectly. All was great until yesterday...

My friend and I went to the cove to run out boats. shortly after starting his nitro vee the xtal in the receiver fell out sent his boat screaming across the cove and under a swim dock where it slammed into a float and capsized leaving only the bow above water. We them retrieved the boat and dealt with the electronics and engines properly. This was when I put my boat in the water, bad idea.

My TS2 ran beautifully for about half a tank when without notice the battery door on my tx fell out sending it and 7 rechargeable AA to the bottom of the lake. My boat continued it's path for about 200 yards where it slammed into a rock seawall and continued to rev at full throttle while hung up on some large rocks. After a series of non-repeatable words I ran nearly 500 yards around the cove, through bushes, over lawn chairs, under clothes lines and eventually off the seawall only to find my boat engulfed in steam still running at wot. After quickly splashing it with water the engine died in a cloud of smoke and steam. on closer inspection the right sponson was severely smashed up and crack about 3 inches to the back. The head on the engines was about three shades darker and the propeller was no longer. I stood there in the water for maybe five minutes in disbelief of what happened. finally a woman came down to her dock next to me and said in a disgusted tone, "You know that toy is really annoying". My reply was simple yet effective, " Well it doesn't look like I will be annoying you for a while does it?" She muttered something and left.

Today I sealed all the cracks and fiberglass with CA and applied bondo to the destroyed areas. Then I sanded it to the correct shape and in two hours the boat looked like new. I still haven't fired up the engine but I think it will run. It's safe to say both of us will be dishing out the dough for failsafes in the near future.

Sorry for the epic but I had to tell my story:).

I'm going to order my TS2 on monday and was wondering apart from radio gear and an engine (both of which I have, TT outboard) do I have to get anything else for the boat. I already have all the starting equipment from my planes and helis. Do I need an engine mount or anything like that?

You may need and engine mount if your engine did not come with one. My O.S. XM came with the mount, I only had to invert it.
What engine are you putting on?

guy after a down period i am up and running and tuning again.

i have had the best percormance with the x440 and am going to try the m440 next.

I am running the stock 3.5k&B and it seems to work the bext with no weight in the canaopy or weigh slots and no spacer between the mount and the transom.

Anyone running the same setup and if so so how do you have your engine mounted for up and down and thrust angle.

hey guys hope fully some one can help me, i dont know if this is a problem or if i just stuffed up but i bought my ts2 yesterday and i was putting in the screws for the engine mount. after drilling as instructed at the 13/16 i think it was two of my inserts screwed in great the other two literaly fel apart![:@] i honestley wasnt forcing them the just snapped!

has anyone elese had this problem? can i get these inserts anywhere?

i have different set-up with u but i'm running m440 and it work great for me, i would say it's worth to test...i tested x437,438,440,442,437/3.

i'm so much carried away of happiness[sm=biggrin.gif][sm=biggrin.gif],,just got my very very first award plaques in boat racing since i started this year...3rd place in 3.5 and 2nd place in 7.5 tunnel...u guys up north of ohio rocks!!!

Yes it is common for those inserts to snap while screwing them in. The good thing is you can find them anywhere. Read some of the posts here as that has been discussed along with alternate ways to screw them in.

Good job man, I am looking forward to running my TS2 tomorrow, I have my new pipe installed and I think I was about 8.5 in from the glow plug so I will let you know how it runs. I am going to try my new 1440 prop as well. Thanks for the help

Wave waker- Thanks for the comments, No I haven't raced yet, still trying to dial her in. Failsafe will be in before the boat is launched next. Btw, Nice looking boat! congrats on the wins.

ozbryan- I had the same problem. What I did was dremel the left over pieces flush with the hull. To put the rest of the inserts in I threaded the screw in the insert and used a hex driver to thread both in the hull. Then I backed the screw out and let the epoxy set.
