Heres my boat (MRP Python)

1 Attachment(s)
This is a MRP (Model Racing Products) Python, i hear it is rare to see one, but this one is in great condition, havent changed anything except for the gas tank.. It even still has the old style servo's and the receiver in there.. all seems to be working fine, finished it up tonight, and cant wait to take it out on the water!

BTW in the second picture, that spider looking object on the ground, isnt really a spider.. its one of those fake ones i have on the ground, when people come over, they think it is real and flip out.. its rather large lol

and yes, i know my room is a mess..

wave, check your pm's

I have not ran it at in the water yet.. i think i have once..

I received this boat and the boat in my other thread from my uncle for free.. he had it all boxed up and told me to take them home.. me wanting to get into nitro rc's took these home with no problem..

Lots of frustration led to sitting on shelfs.. so i got them abck out a few days ago, and here it is hopefully ready to go, after i replace hte batt pack tonight..

You might want to replace that fuel tank with something like a Sullivan SS-8 tank for more run time and you won't have to worry about the cap leaking.
The last time that I talked ot the guy around here that had one, Norm Jankowski, he still had his.

had i the Du-bro S-8 tank..

It doesnt fit in there without putting a lot of stress on the steering.. i threw this tank on there with some double stick tape.. how long do you think the run times will be with this tank.. i can always buy a 4 or 6 ounce tank... the 8 was too big..

RE: Heres my boat (MRP Python)

I'm assuming that you're not going to race it but putting the biggest one that will fit in there will give you longer run times. A 6 ouncer wil get you a lot more than the one in there which should be close to 3-4 minutes if that.

RE: Heres my boat (MRP Python)

wow, thats all ill get?... pheww.. ill have to make sure i get a new tank before friday.. wow.

How long you think a 6 ouncer would run?

RE: Heres my boat (MRP Python)

i estimate about 4 inches wide, and also 4 inches deep i can go.. i guess tower would have measurments?

RE: Heres my boat (MRP Python)

went to adjust the carb, well the lock nut was backing off the entire fitting.. so i took off hte whole fitting, got the lock nut off, when putting hte fitting back on with my hand, the thing snaps in half, with half of the fitting inside the carb body screwed in.. no way to get to it..

Luckily i had another carb that i cleaned up earlier and seems to be working fine now.. i used the body and stop screw from the broken carb and switched it off and it is working perfect it seems now

Now onto the tank problem..

RE: Heres my boat (MRP Python)

Oh, on the tank, what if i raised it off hte boat, and then somehow strapped it down, with like tie straps? like made one of these |-| and the tank sat in the middle, strapped down? then i could use the 8 ouncer and still have steering?

RE: Heres my boat (MRP Python)

it would be too high.. hmm, any ideas?

RE: Heres my boat (MRP Python)

i took off that top piece of wood where the cables come out of the radio box. and cut a new area on both pieces.

Now the cables are further out towards the sides, and i can put the tank in there, then raise the back up a little higher for it to be correct..

Will this raised back hurt anything?

RE: Heres my boat (MRP Python)

It shouldn't.

RE: Heres my boat (MRP Python)

How do i fill one of these tanks? i use to have a powered thing that would go into the tank, then go into my gallon bottle, but i dont think it works anymore..
how can i fill these?

Ron Olson 06-12-2007 10:46 PM

RE: Heres my boat (MRP Python)

The airplane guys used ot use a "turkey baster" bulb system to fill their tanks with years ago. It was cheap and easy. Fill through the carb line, not the vent/pressure line.
The electric fuel pump is my choice (because I'm lazy) or you can get a hand-crank model.

RE: Heres my boat (MRP Python)

or i can take my savage 160cc tank, fill it, connect the line to the tank, then blow through the exaust line on the savage

Not fun, but i got the job done untill i can find some kind of other blowing system..

Hi Evader

i got the same hull powered with a 7.5 K&B ........... ( yeah .....i know its a little bit overpowered :D ) i have this boat since 1990 and it runs still great and its a eyecatcher , cause a canard is very rare here in Europe......... i plan to build my own fuel tank out of thin ( 0.8mm) stainless steel !

Folks,

is there any chance to get plans or old " ed fisher" designed canards in the states ?

Thanxs for help !!!!!!!!!!!!
